The use of scrap in the game
Scrap plays quite an important role in Elex 2, because it is used in crafting. It's primarily used for making new weapons and shields, which may require a lot of scrap apart from other ingredients. In the example shown in the picture, upgrading the Alb shield requires 40 pieces of scrap.
Scrap can also be useful to craft other things. Another example from the picture shows creating ammunition, and more specifically grenades - creating 1 grenade requires 10 pieces of scrap.
You will find more and more such cases along with your progress in the game. You need to prioritize what items you want to spend scrap on and look for ways to obtain more scrap.
Don't sell the scrap you've collected, even if you don't need it at the moment. The character's inventory has no limits, so you can store it for later use.
How to collect scrap?
The most obvious way to obtain scrap is to find it as loot - it can be either out in the open, or hidden in containers. Try to carefully search all the locations you visit, because scrap is one of the most common types of loot.
An alternative way to obtain scrap is to visit traders. Various traders can offer it, but you'll find it most often at the ones that sell specifically parts and scrap, like the one in the Depository inhabited by the Albs.
In the example above, 1 scrap costs 10 elexit, so you can refill your scrap supplies with "only" a few hundred elexit.
