Last update: 17 March 2022

This page of the guide to Elex 2 contains key information about the companions. We explain, among others, how to add new party members, how does traveling with companions look like and how the relations with companions can change based on your decisions.

List of all companions

There are seven companions in Elex 2:

  1. Caja
  2. Nasty
  3. Bully
  4. CRONY U4
  5. Fox
  6. Nyra
  7. Falk

Information on the location of potential companions and the requirements for recruiting them can be found in the descriptions of individual characters on the following pages of this chapter.

Additional information - In certain situations, Jax can be temporarily accompanied by characters not included in the above list - Elex 2: Companions - basic information, party relations - Companions - Elex 2 Guide

Additional information - In certain situations, Jax can be temporarily accompanied by characters not included in the above list. These can be, for example, Dex (the son of the main character) or people who you have to escort from location A to location B as part of a quest. These types of characters are not treated as fully-fledged companions, because they cannot travel with you without restrictions. It is worth using their help, for example, to eliminate the monsters you encounter (the "main" companion does not leave Jax when an temporary ally joins you).

Key information about companions

Here are the basic rules for traveling with companions and unlocking them - Elex 2: Companions - basic information, party relations - Companions - Elex 2 Guide

Here are the basic rules for traveling with companions and unlocking them:

  1. You start the game alone - try to focus on getting your first party member as soon as possible. Traveling with a companion will make it easier for you to win battles with monsters - they can be particularly demanding for a weak Jax in the early stages of the game.
  2. Some companions will join you right after the first conversation, while others will require that you complete a mission for them first. Bully, Nasty and the CRONY U4 drone do not require you to complete any task - you just have to encounter them (their locations can be found on the following pages). Caja, Fox, Nyra and Falk will join you only after completing short tasks.
  3. You can only travel with one companion at a time, but there's nothing to prevent you from unlocking them all. Companions with whom you are not currently traveling will be in the Bastion. To switch your companion, you just need to tell them that you want to split up, and order the new companion to follow you.
  4. Companions are great aid in combat and are immortal. When a companion's health points drop to zero, they will lose consciousness, but after the fight, they will stand back up and continue their journey. It is worth adding that each companion has a jetpack, so they will follow you even to high-altitude locations.
  5. The game does not allow you to level up your companions or modify their equipment in any way. However, they should be good at fighting monsters from the very beginning - you don't have to worry about them not being helpful in the fights.

Exploit - two companions in chapter 1

In the previous point, we mentioned that Jax can be accompanied by one character at a time - Elex 2: Companions - basic information, party relations - Companions - Elex 2 Guide

In the previous point, we mentioned that Jax can be accompanied by one character at a time. However, it is possible to have 2 companions in chapter 1. Here what is for you to do:

  1. Find the CRONY U4 drone - it will automatically join Jax.
  2. During the conversation with CRONY, do not ask whether the drone is ready for action. End the conversation right after you locate CRONY.
  3. The drone can follow Jax and participate in fights as a second companion. This means that one of the other companions may also be in the active party - you will have two allies with you.

Unfortunately, this method only works in the first chapter of the campaign. One of the requirements for advancing to chapter 2 is to make CRONY as one of your party members. From now on, selecting it as an active companion will prevent you from joining a second one.

Relationship with the companion

Each companion in Elex 2 has a unique personality and a different approach to the world - Elex 2: Companions - basic information, party relations - Companions - Elex 2 Guide

Each companion in Elex 2 has a unique personality and a different approach to the world. Companions take part not only in combat, but also in conversations with other characters. In addition, companions react to your decisions. Some prefer peaceful solutions to conflicts, while others prefer violence. After each such choice, you will hear your companion's commentary, and a message about their approach will appear on the screen. You can also check the current relationship with your companion by talking to them.

If you want to maintain a good relationship with your companion, you must make decisions according to their nature:

  1. Caja, Fox, Nyra and Falk prefer peaceful conflict resolution and non-ironic, friendly responses.
  2. Nasty and Bully accept violence, deception and quarrels during dialogues.
  3. U4 CRONY accepts all Jax's decisions.

Completely ruining the relationship with a given companion will make them leave you, and you will not be able to travel with them again. In addition, missions associated with them will fail. You can avoid this by saving the game often and changing your companion before you have to make decisions that could significantly worsen your relationship with them (they will not learn about your choices while they are in the Bastion).

There are romances with a few companions - we have described them in more detail on a separate page of the guide. Of course, they require building the best possible relationships.

Which companion is the best?

It's hard to choose the best companion in Elex 2 - Elex 2: Companions - basic information, party relations - Companions - Elex 2 Guide

It's hard to choose the best companion in Elex 2. During fights, all companions are equally useful. Each of them has both a melee and ranged weapon (CRONY U4 is an exception, as he fights only at a distance). The choice of a companion should therefore be based on their personality. It's best to travel with a character who will support your decisions.

Remember that you don't have to travel with a companion at all. Players who prefer traveling on their own may find the Lone Wolf skill useful, as it increases the stats of a character who explores the game world alone.
