Types of enemies | Combat Watch Dogs Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
The enemies in Watch_Dogs (regardless of whether they are the enforcers, mercenaries or gangsters) come in five different classes. The individual classes differ in terms of weaponry, inventory and abilities.
The enemy classes have been presented in the above screenshot and it is worth noting the red icons here, which signify the type of the enemy, Knowing this system of icons will allow you to determine what type of threat you are facing, in a given location or fight. This is especially useful in situations in which you can spare some time to plan on your attack, on the area occupied by the enemy forces.
The available enemy classes are:
1) Gunman - These opponents use standard-issue weapons and they, nearly never, have additional armors, which makes them easy targets.
2) Veteran - These opponents are a bit more bright than their colleagues. Try to eliminate them from a very long distance, or in melee.
3) Elite - These enemies use very good weapons and often wear additional vest and armors. The key to succeeding here is using the best available guns and aiming at the weakened portions of their bodies (e.g. the head).
4) Enforcer - These opponents use very heavy armors, as a result of which conventional weapons deal very little damage to them. It is bet to eliminate them e.g. with grenade launchers or explosives.
5) Marksman - These opponents come armed with sniper rifles and they are a really serious threat to you, because they can quickly weaken Aiden and leave him at the brink of dying. Locate them, by exploiting their laser sights and eliminate them in the first place (or avoid altogether).
The living opponents are not the only threat, because some of them use means of transport. As much as the situation, in the case of the opponents that drive cars, is quite obvious (destroying the car with a rifle/ shotgun burst, or a well-aimed grenade), in the case of e.g. police choppers, which join the pursuit after you reach the predetermined wanted level, you need to be very careful. First of all, it is a good idea to try eliminating the gunman onboard the helicopter, because you will sustain, then, no damage from the flying machine. Unfortunately, in the meantime, there often arrive reinforcements into the battlefield, which may make things even more complicated. In the majority of situations, it is much better to try escaping from the helicopter (fast, flawless driving) or disappear from its sight (e.g. by hiding inside a building).
Note- some of the more advanced of Aiden's abilities allow you to damage the helicopter, for several seconds. If you have these abilities, it is w good idea to use them (more about this in the chapter entitled Abilities).
