Main and side missions | Activities and hints Watch Dogs Guide
Last update: 02 February 2017
The city prepared by the developers of the Watch_Dogs, hides many attractions. Collectibles, minigames and activities have been described in the remaining chapters of this guide. This particular chapter focuses, entirely, on the main and side missions, which you can take up during the game.
In the case of the main missions, you can freely decide when you want to take them up. Therefore, you do not need to start a main mission right after you have completed the previous one. Instead, you can turn to side missions, or explore the city to unlock collectibles. In order to start another main mission, you need to approach the marker shown on the map of Chicago.
Note - You can start some of the main missions, only after you have met certain additional requirements, e.g. after you have bought a certain weapon or obtained a certain vehicle. All of the restrictions of this kind have been described in the walkthrough for the game. The game itself will inform you of the necessity to meet the requirements so, you will never get into a situation, in which you do not know what to do next, to progress.
There are several, ways in which you can activate side missions. Usually, the case is that a new marker is added to the map and, from then on, you can start that mission. The game itself will often inform you of the option to start a side mission, by displaying a message on the screen, which is similar to the one shown in the above screenshot. Also, you can activate some of the side missions by hacking into a random phone of an NPC. As a result of a successful hacking, you can receive information that will take you to a crime site or to a location, where there is a valuable collectible.
In general, it is a good idea to review the map of Chicago (e.g. after each main mission or after a longer ride around the city) in search of optional activities.
