Last update: 11 May 2016

Hack into the computer in the harbor

The mission starting point

Te starting point, for the first mission of the third act, is in the central part of Pawnee. After you start this mission, approach the nearby building and try hacking into the computer next to it. This will be a failed attempt, unfortunately.

Use the Profiler to obtain the code

Initiate the Profiler (press the hacking key/button) and start scanning the people within the blue circle on the minimap. The people that you need to hack into are marked in red. After you obtain the code that you need to reset the password, return to the computer and start hacking again. This time around, you will succeed.

Infiltrate the abandoned ctOS tower

The gate switch

The ctOS tower is to the North-West of the mission starting point and there is a narrow path that leads up to it. You do not encounter any enemies here so, you do not need to sneak, nor prepare in any particular way. After you get there hack, remotely, one of the cameras attached to the huge satellite dishes. Locate the control panel and hack into it to make the gate open, which will allow you to walk into the abandoned base.

Activate the station

The stairs

I recommend that you perform all of the actions, at the base, by following the below instructions, because it is easy to get lost here. Quite uniquely, the game will not point you to the exact areas and single objects that you need to reach. Examine the central part of the base and locate the stairs to the underground corridors.

You need to open the gate in the underground

Stop after you approach the locked gate. At the other side of the gate, you should notice the main terminal of the ctOS tower, but you will not be able to reach it, until you perform all of the remaining actions at the base. Target the camera that you can see over the gate and switch to it. After you do that, you need to hack into the router. Wait for the game to load the camera view, target the nearby control panel and open the gate in another part of the underground.

Close the camera view and return to the surface - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide

Close the camera view and return to the surface. Go towards the huge satellite dish shown in the above screenshot and stand on the adjacent balcony. After you do that, return towards the central, vertical antenna (the central part of the base) and hack into it. Thanks to this, you will be able to rotate the dish, along with the balcony. Walk onto the balcony again and hack into the antenna again, to be transported elsewhere.

Remain on the balcony and hack into the camera on another dish, which you can see in the distance. Pan the camera in the way that will enable you to locate the control panel shown in the above screenshot, which is located on one of the rooftops. Hack into that panel remotely.

Return to controlling Aiden and, only then, take the stairs on the right to climb off the balcony neighboring the satellite dish. The hacking that you have just performed on the control panel, unlocked the gate here. Open it and reach the yellow ladder a bit ahead.

Take the stairs to reach the new rotary balconies - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide

Take the stairs to reach the new "rotary" balconies. Just like earlier, you need to hack into the central antenna to set the whole structure into motion. Climb onto the bridge shown in the above screenshot and hack into the antenna again. Wait for Aiden to be transported elsewhere.

Another descent into the underground

Climb over the balustrade and land onto the blue interactive elevator (you can raise it before you do that, but it is not necessary). Locate the stairs, into another part of the underground, here. Take the stairs to reach the gate that you opened at the very beginning of the station exploration.

Hack into the fuse box - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
Hack into the fuse box

In the first place, you should explore the corridor on the right, because you will find components there, a computer with an e-mail and an audiolog (Malcolm Deodato 05). Stand next to the locked gate now and detonate the fuse box that you can see there. Take the newly-unlocked passage. Hack into the local control panel and take the path back to the main part of the station.

Once again, take the descent into the underground, which you have taken at the very beginning of your visit to this location. The gate here is already opened so, you can approach the ctOS tower control panel and unlock it. Listen to the audio recording and leave the underground.

Leave the station premises and return into the town that you started this mission in. Park in front of the bar and enter (take the correct door!). Here, you will watch a cutscene featuring T-Bone.

In order to gain access to the next part of the mission, you need to beat T-Bone at the drinking minigame. If you have not yet played this minigame, you deserve an additional description. Your task is to direct the grey circle onto the keys/buttons icons and to press those buttons. Of course, you need to be quick at it but, if you fail a round, you will start it again, after a while.

During the final rounds of the drinking minigame, various handicaps will appear, e.g. the necessity to reveal the appropriate key/button, after you highlight the question mark. In general, you should have no problems. After you complete the minigame, you will be rewarded with a cutscene of the brawl and with promotion to the next part of this very long mission.

Follow T-Bone

Use the hacking button

Follow T-Bone and listen to the conversation with him. After a while, you will reach the spot, where you will have to test one of T-Bone's handmade toys. Target the metal structure and hold down the hacking key/button make it start fire. After the show is over, walk over to the next area on the scrap yard , where you receive new objectives.

Retrieve T-Bone's van

The place where you steal the van

Take the gun that T-Bone left, mount the bike on the scrap yard and ride towards the camp with the stolen van, located to the East of here. Carefully, approach the area marked by the game, and perform reconnaissance by hacking into the nearby cameras. What speaks for it is the fact that there two snipers around, whose field of vision is very vast and that the majority of enemies here are the elite ones.

The water tower provides you with an excellent view of the area - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
The water tower provides you with an excellent view of the area

Since the van is parked in the very center of the cam and reaching it, without alarming the enemies, is virtually impossible. A good way to secure the area is to reach the very top of the water tower to the North-West of the van. Take down, or kill, the sniper atop the water tower and start using the advantage of height, to eliminate the enemies.

You can detonate the big, white fuel tank - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
You can detonate the big, white fuel tank

If you prefer using the elements of the environment to your advantage, you do not really need to climb onto the water tower. Instead, you can start sabotaging the explosive elements, or the charges on the enemies, or use the Lure to encourage them to approach the big, white fuel tank and blow it up.

You need to get into the van and start escaping - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
You need to get into the van and start escaping

Regardless of your method, I recommend against trying to eliminate all of the enemies in the main camp (with the exception of the sniper on the water tower), because reinforcements will arrive prematurely. Instead, consider leaving, at least, one of the enemies alive, thanks to which you will not be targeted by the new waves of enemies.

Escape on the van

Hack into the elements of the environment to damage, or destroy, the enemy vehicles - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
Hack into the elements of the environment to damage, or destroy, the enemy vehicles

Depending on how you behaved in the camp, you will be attacked by the next gangsters only after several moments, after you start escaping. Try to search out the opportunities to hack the elements of the surroundings (steam pipelines, bollards, etc.). This is so, because the van is neither too fast, nor can you change your means of transport.

Avoid cutting through road blocks, to prevent damaging the van - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
Avoid cutting through road blocks, to prevent damaging the van

Your destination is at the end of the end of the path, to the South-West of the camp and it is best to follow the GPS readings. Along your way, watch out not only for the cars that actively participate in the chase, but also for the blocks, which are best if swerved around. Towards the end, things get a little bit easier, thanks to the activation of one of T-Bone's traps (you need to trigger it yourself), thanks to which, at least, one of the enemy cars should be destroyed.

It is best to escape the enemies in boat - Mission 1 (Hope Is a Sad Thing) | Main missions - Act III - Main missions - Act III - Watch Dogs Game Guide
It is best to escape the enemies in boat

After you reach the destination, get out of the car. You can finish the mission by eliminating all of the enemies, or by escaping them and the latter is much better an option. I recommend that you reach the nearby pier and steal the boat. Thanks to the boat, you can easily get out of the grey circle of search and complete this mission.

Note - After you complete this mission, the game will unlock a new hideout for you. You will find it in Pawnee and it is a container with bed, wardrobe and an audiolog (Angela Balik 01).

Rewards for completing the mission: unlocks side activities, new hideout, 2000 experience points + 250 experience points for unlocking the ctOS tower
