Cyberpunk 2077: Quest types Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 23 February 2021
The quests in Cyberpunk 2077 were divided into several separate categories - main and side jobs, gigs, NCPD scanner hustles and rides. Each quest you encounter is logged in your journal. On this page of your guide, we provide information on all the quest types and their requirements.
Main Jobs
The main jobs tell the main plot of the game. It is primarily through the main jobs that you will meet the most important characters of Cyberpunk 2077 and, to some extent, decide on V's fate. Completing main jobs also influences the game world and the activities that are available to you. You don't have to do the main jobs immediately, even if the events or the journal log imply that you should hurry. It is worth knowing, however, that in the final stages of the campaign there is a so-called point of no return, i.e. the moment when all side activities are blocked.
The main job locations are highlighted on the game map - they are marked with an exclamation point icon on a yellow circle.
A list of all the main jobs in Cyberpunk 2077 (including endings) and links to their corresponding walkthroughs can be found on a separate page of our guide - All main jobs.
Side Jobs
During side jobs, you will experience stories occurring outside of the main plot. However, this does not mean that side jobs won't affect the plot. Some of the side jobs are extremely important and have a significant impact on the game's ending. If you don't want to miss certain outcomes in the ending, don't skip the side jobs.
You will also find a list of all side jobs in another section of our guide - List of all side jobs.
Gigs
Gigs are minor side quests obtained from fixers in which you have to accomplish objectives in the different sub-districts of the Cyberpunk 2077 map. There are multiple gigs of each type (for example, thievery, agent saboteur or SOS: merc needed), but each particular gig has its own short, unique story.
We have enumerated all the gigs in a separate page of our guide - List of all gigs.
Cyberpsycho sightings are another type of gig. To complete them, you will have to face special opponents - one might call them mini-bosses. This type of gig also requires you to investigate the reasons behind the cyberpsycho's ailment.
NCPD Scanner Hustles
Other side activities include NCPD scanner hustles in which you have to face off against gang members. These gigs usually involve eliminating a group of enemies and obtaining evidence of a crime.
NCPD Scanner Hustles are marked on the map with icons of blue skulls and baseball bats.
Rides
In Cyberpunk 2077 you will receive many offers to buy vehicles (cars and motorcycles). First, you will be sent a message with a description and photo of the vehicle and then a new log will appear in your journal.
By tracking the gig, you can easily reach the location of the vehicle for sale. Then, all you have to do is walk up to your chosen car or motorcycle and select the option that appears on the screen - provided that you have enough cash, of course.
Buying vehicles is not the only method of obtaining cars and motorcycles. In our guide, we have included a long list of free vehicles.
