Cyberpunk 2077: Conversations with NPCs, dialogue options Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 23 February 2021
On this page of the Cyberpunk 2077 game guide you will learn how to converse with the NPCs you encounter, what dialogue options will be available to you during these conversations and the differences between them, as well as how to make quick decisions and what their potential consequences may be.
Dialogue options - types, differences
During the conversations with the NPCs you encounter, you will be able to choose from a variety of dialogue options. Those marked in orange are directly related to your current quest and will progress the game's story forward. The blue dialogue options will allow you to obtain additional information. It is worth noting here that some side (blue) dialogue options may correspond to the attributes you chose to invest points in.
Quick decisions
While performing many main and side jobs in Cyberpunk 2077 you will have to make quick decisions. When a dialogue option with a time counter in the form of a disappearing bar appears on the screen, you must decide whether you want to use this option or not. These decisions can be divided into spoken lines and actions.
- Spoken lines: failure to use such a dialogue option will be treated by the interlocutor as silence, and thus can be perceived ambivalently and may affect how the conversation ends;
- Actions: during the game you will also have to make quick decisions about performing certain actions, such as shooting your interlocutor. If you decide to go for it (or not), it might lead to a different quest ending.
Unique dialogue options
The unique dialogue options in Cyberpunk 2077 relate to your character's background and the attributes you chose to invest in.
- The character's lifepath: If, for example, you want to enter a building protected by local gangsters and you chose the Street Kid lifepath, you can simply reach an agreement with them and enter the building without any issues. Otherwise you would have to find a side entrance, threaten them or initiate a fight;
- Attributes: these dialogue options may grant you additional information and/or provide you with alternative solutions to problems. By developing your Intelligence, you will be able to hack devices, and investing into the Cool attribute will let you talk your way out of conflicts and resolve things peacefully.
Important decisions
As you progress through Cyberpunk 2077, you will also have to make important decisions that will directly affect the game's storyline and the completion of individual quests. For example, you may or may not save an NPC's life, make a deal with an organization to complete a job or find your own solution to an encountered problem.
All important decisions related to the storyline of Cyberpunk 2077 can be found in a separate section of this guide, in the chapter Important choices.
