The Chimera tank is the first full-fledged boss from the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. On this page, you will find a description of the fight with the mechanical boss from the quest Spider and the Fly. We explain how to deplete Chimera's energy bar, how to stop a tank's regeneration and how to finish off a knocked down Chimera.
- First encounter with the Chimera and escaping the tank
- Location of fighting the boss
- How to destroy the boss - tank?
First encounter with the Chimera and escaping the tank
- You will come across an inactive Chimera tank while completing the Spider and the Fly main job. Songbird will take control of Chimera.
- The tank will initially help you in fights, but will ultimately become a deadly threat after Songbird loses control over it. You will have to escape from the Chimera - we described that in the walkthrough.
Location of fighting the boss
- A full-fledged fight with Chimera will begin after a failed attempt to use the elevator and passing several QTEs.
- You will land in the arena and after a short while the Chimera will activate and attack you.
How to destroy the boss - tank?
- Your task is to bring the Chimera's energy down to 2% (its initial value is 90%) - the energy bar is at the top of the screen.
- We recommend staying on the upper floor. Chimera will have a few attacks, one of them is a laser spin attack. You can quickly run to the side, as the attack doesn't go full 360 degrees, or jump over the beam at a right moment.
- Another attack of the boss are rocket barrages. When this attack happens, you can crouch behind covers, but remember that covers can be destroyed by enemy fire. Your best bet is to stay mobile.
- The key to winning the battle is firing at weak points of Chimera's armor. You can scan the tank to uncover them. Successfully hitting these points will allow you to slowly deprive the boss of his health.
- In addition, if you have the Vulnerability Scanning perk, the game can mark defects on the tank's armor. More information on this perk can be found in Relic tree page of the guide.
- If you have at least 6 in Body, you can rip out stationary turrets (example in screenshot) from the corners of the room. They offer a lot of firepower when used.
- Alternatively, you can use hacking. For example, you can temporarily paralyze the tank and make it vulnerable to your attacks.
- There is plenty of ammunition in the arena and make sure to rely on your best ranged weapons. If possible, also increase the strength of your armor for the duration of the battle.
- The damaged Chimera will release repair drones - focus only on them, as they can replenish the boss's health. The faster you eliminate them, the less energy will be regenerated.
- Continue firing at the boss - after destroying all Vulnerabilities, you can focus at any area of the tank.
- After Chimera is left with only 2% of its energy, you need to finish it. Run up to the tank and climb onto the roof. Press the interaction key quickly to fire off a finishing attack and complete your dealings with the boss.
