How many difficulty levels are there?
Initially, the game offers three difficulty levels. After completing the game for the first time, you will unlock access to the fourth, the most challenging one. These are, respectively, from easiest to hardest - Assisted, Standard, Hardcore and Professional.
Difficulty level - Assisted
This is the easiest difficulty level. Players who are not familiar with action games and dynamic gameplay, or those who prefer to focus on the story, should choose this mode.
Here, you play with enabled aim assist, creating and acquiring ammunition is made easier, certain items at the Merchant's are cheaper, and on top of that, when your health drops to a very low level, its portion will be restored after a while.
Difficulty level - Standard
This is a medium difficulty level. A good choice for those who are familiar with action games and expect a balanced challenge. At this difficulty level, item prices have a fixed value and enemies deal normal damage. It is worth noting that health restoration is not automatic here.
If you decide that this difficulty level is too high for you, there is an option to change it to the lower one, Assisted, after death. Unfortunately, you can't do that when you choose one of the more difficult modes.
Difficulty level - Hardcore
This is a hard mode in which the opponents are much tougher. They also inflict massive damage. Even a regular enemy can be a threat. In addition, puzzles are much more difficult to solve. What's more, prices in stores for some items are increased.
You choose this mode at your own risk (especially since you will not be able to change it later). It's worth saving ammunition by using weapons such as the knife and Bolt Thrower.
Difficulty mode - Professional
This is the most difficult of all modes, available only after you finish the game on any difficulty level. It is very similar to Hardcore mode, however, it has some significant limitations such as the lack of auto-save. On top of that, parrying opponents' attacks is much harder as it has to be executed perfectly - which means you have much less time to react.
