Resident Evil 4 Remake: Is there a raytracing?
Yes, Resident Evil 4 supports raytracing. To enable it, you need a suitable graphics card - at least AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060/2070.
Ray tracing is also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X (not available on Series S). You can enable it in the game options in the Display tab. It is limited in nature and only simulates Reflections.
Resident Evil 4 Remake: Graphics modes on PS5 and Xbox Series
PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles have 2 graphics modes:
- Frame Rate - this is active by default. Its goal is to display the game at a constant 60 frames, but this comes at the expense of a slightly lower resolution.
- Resolution - it aims to display the game at 4K resolution (or 1440p on the Series S), but this may come at the expense of frame drops.
In both of the above modes, we experienced occasional animation drops, which occurred, among others, in locations with fire or chapters with rain.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, you can additionally enable Hair Strands, which is supposed to better simulate hair in response to, e.g. movement or gusts of wind.
Resident Evil 4 Remake: Bottom of screen blinking bug on PS5
On PlayStation 5, there is an additional bug with flashing different-colored lights near the bottom edge of the screen. The developer has promised to fix it in one of the next patches. You can also try to solve the problem in other ways:
- Switch to Resolution mode - the error should only appear in Frame Rate mode.
- In the Display tab in the options, set Depth of Field to Off.
- In the Camera tab in the options, set Motion Blur to On.
