Resident Evil 4 Remake: Is there a fast travel?
From this guide page, you will learn whether Resident Evil 4 Remake has fast travel. We explain whether you can use fast travel to reach other locations quickly, and how to open shortcuts on the maps.
Resident Evil 4 Remake has backtracking and collecting treasures that you weren't able to obtain earlier. This page of the guide answers whether you can use fast travel, and how to unlock shortcuts in locations.
There are minor spoilers on this page regarding village exploration and the transportation method unlocked in the castle later in the game.
Location map
Resident Evil 4 Remake encourages thorough exploration and to return to old locations, e.g. to use a newly acquired key to open a previously found chest or to use Ashley's help in climbing.
Unfortunately, you won't find a typical fast travel in the rimake. You cannot "teleport" to already discovered locations - you have to walk there. You can use:
- Map - All passages and connections between locations are visible on it (don't forget to switch between different floors).
- Village boat - You will gain access to it after defeating the Del Lago boss. You can reach different harbors by boat and thus get to certain places in the village faster.
Railroad in the castle
As you explore the castle - RE4's second main location - you can unlock a railroad in chapter 9. You will find its passage next to the Grand Hall. Reach the room with the merchant and a typewriter, and choose the southern door.
The cart travels to the western side of the castle, near Audience Chamber. So you can use it, for example, to easily return to the collectibles from the castle's starting chamber. You will also go around the castle walls, among others.
Once you have taken care of everything, you can use the rail again to go back to the east.
Shortcuts
Another way to make traveling around easier is to unlock shortcuts. In the game, you may come across locked doors and gates - when investigated, they will be marked on the map with a red bar.
You can reach the locked passage from the other side and turn the key or release the lock. This will open a new shortcut that can be accessed both ways.
