Verdugo is a boss from chapter 10 of RE4 Remake. The walkthrough explains when exactly the fight in the Underground Laboratory begins, how to freeze the boss with Liquid Nitrogen Showers, how to avoid Verdugo's attacks, and how to defeat the boss or how to escape Verdugo by using the elevator.
Verdugo in Underground Laboratory
You will face Verdugo in the Underground Laboratory in chapter 10.
The elevator turns out to be out of service - you're going to need to reset the Circuit Breaker. You can find it in the western part of the facility.
The boss will appear suddenly on your way to the elevator, and from that moment he will start hunting Leon.
Description of the boss fight
Turn around quickly. One of the Liquid Nitrogen Shower switches is near the circuit breaker. After pressing it, quickly run a little bit further to avoid death.
The monster should get temporarily frozen.
Take this opportunity to get out of the area with the circuit breaker. Run to the gate and use the valve (hold down the interaction button) to slowly raise it.
A short cut-scene will inform you that the elevator started working, but it will take some time for it to reach the underground laboratory. You have 2 options:
- defend against Verdugo before the elevator gets here - this variant will save you supplies;
- kill Verdugo - this will cost you a lot of supplies, but the boss will drop an artifact.
There are 3 other Liquid Nitrogen Showers in the area - they activate in the same way as the previous one. Do this while Verdugo is chasing Leon.
You can attack the frozen boss - kick and shoot him with the best weapons you have (shotgun, magnum, rifle, rocket launcher).
You also need to watch out for boss attacks from ventilation shafts - you may have been already attacked like that on the way to the circuit breaker.
When the message appears on the screen, quickly press the Evade button (Circle/B), and you will not receive any damage. If Leon gets grabbed, it is best to quickly stab the knife into the monster's body.
You can find a lot of loot in one of the lab rooms and unlock a shortcut - this will allow you to run all over the central area without the risk of suddenly being trapped.
Use sprinting and, when hearing the boss behind you, run slalom to avoid being reached by his jump.
If you have chosen the option of avoiding the boss, then head for the elevator as soon as it arrives.
Regardless of which method you chose, enter the elevator and start it.
