Last update: 23 March 2023
Resident Evil 4 Remake has a similar length to the original version. On this page of the guide, we provide information on how long the main storyline is, how much extra play time you can get by searching for secrets and collectibles, completing all Requests, getting 100% of the achievements, obtaining S rank or beating the game in Professional and NG+ modes.
Main story, secrets and requests
- The main storyline will take you about 15-20 hours. The remake offers a similar length to the original from 2005, but there is a different number of chapters - there are a total of 16 of them to complete.
- Exploration and searching for secrets can add about 10 hours to the game. There are many collectibles and optional activities, such as Requests in which you have to destroy blue medallions or defeat optional bosses, among others.
Platinum trophy and subsequent playthroughs
- RE4 encourages multiple playthroughs. You can try to get a higher rank and unlock additional weapons and outfits by playing in New Game + and Professional modes.
- Getting the platinum trophy is not easy - you will have to go through the game multiple times. Getting S rank is one of the more challenging trophies. It forces one to complete the campaign in 5 hours or 5 hours and 30 minutes (depending on the difficulty level). In addition, you have to, e.g. finish the game without using medicine, use only on a knife and a pistol, or don't buy or sell from the merchant.
