Is there level cap in Lords of the Fallen 2023? From our guide you will learn whether there is a maximum level limit in the game and what are the so-called soft limits on attribute values.

Last update: 18 October 2023

Before playing Lords of the Fallen (2023) you may wonder if there is a level cap restricting your hero from developing past a certain point. On this page of the guide, we answer the question whether there is an experience level limit in the game. In addition, we explain how soft caps on various attributes of the protagonist work.

Is there an experience level limit (level cap)?

  1. As a reminder, to advance to a higher level in Lords of the Fallen, you need to visit a Vestige, choose Upgrade Character option from the menu and spend accumulated Vigor i.e. a resource which can be treated as experience points. To reach a new level, you need to apply Vigor to your chosen attribute and increase it by 1. You can advance by more than one level, but it will cost more Vigor.
  2. Lords of the Fallen doesn't have a level cap. There is an achievement for reaching 100 experience level (Seasoned) but developing your hero doesn't have to end there. The game leaves you a free hand in developing attributes, but there are the so-called soft caps that we describe below.

On a separate page How to gain Vigor (XP)? you will find tips on how to gain XP and level up your character faster.

What are soft caps on attributes?

In Lords of the Fallen, each attribute improves the character in a different way. For example, developing Strength allows you to deal more damage with melee weapons, Endurance can extend the stamina bar and improve resistances to certain attacks, and Vitality grants more health points.

There is a phenomenon in the game called soft attribute caps. It means that an attribute after being developed enough beings to improve the statistics less. For example, you may receive less damage bonus or additional health after improving the attribute by 1, than before. Soft attribute caps are:

  1. Strength - after reaching values of 20, 40, and 60 respectively.
  2. Agility - 50 and 75 respectively.
  3. Vitality - obtaining values of 20, 40 and 60 points respectively.
  4. Endurance - obtaining values of 20, 40 and 60 points respectively.
  5. Radiance - obtaining values of 50 and 75 points respectively.
  6. Inferno - obtaining values of 50 and 75 points respectively.

Depending on the attribute, it is not worth developing it further after reaching 60 or 75 points, because the increase in statistics from then on will be negligible. Also pay attention to the previous soft caps. After you reach, e.g. value of 40 to 50 points, it is worth considering taking interest in other attributes for some time. You'll get more sheer power by developing attributes that haven't reached their soft caps.
