While learning the basic mechanics, after the first few minutes, you'll encounter the first boss in the game: Holy Bulwark Otto. He isn't a highly challenging opponent because he serves as an enemy who will familiarize you with the rules of boss fighting. Nevertheless, you need to be careful with him, because one mistake can result in the quick death. In our guide, we explain how to quickly defeat him and we provide information about what will happen after winning the battle.
How to fight Holy Bulwark Otto?
Holy Bulwark Otto is a slow enemy who fights with blunt weapon. You can use the lantern's ability, Soulfaly, to rip his soul from his body. As a result, you'll stop the boss for a while, enabling you to attack his soul, which will cause the boss's health bar to start decreasing.
Holy Bulwark Otto will swing his weapon at a slow pace, most of his attacks are linear and very predictable. It's a good idea to dodge behind his back and then use the opportunity to attack him.
The boss may try to grab you, which he will signal by hitting his chest. You'll be able to break free from the grip only after the attack is over. However, if you successfully avoid this attack, you can counter with multiple quick attacks or one fully charged attack.
Nevertheless, we recommend dodging and approaching the enemy from behind. However, if you know the pattern of his sword swings, you can try to block them, which will result in dealing a lot of damage.
If you know that your dodge is being performed at the wrong moment, or if you simply cannot do it, we recommend blocking the boss's attacks. You'll lose some health points, but you'll be able to regain them when you attack the boss. The gray health bar will then turn red.
What happens after defeating Holy Bulwark Otto?
There are no rewards for defeating this boss. Instead, you'll start a fight with an opponent who is so strong at this stage of the game that you'll likely die, and probably won't be able to deal any damage to him.
