Lords of the Fallen from 2023 is a difficult game and you may be looking for options to lower the difficulty level. The guide explains if there are different difficulty levels and how you can make battles and defeating bosses easier.
Last update: 18 October 2023
While playing Lords of the Fallen, you may encounter problems with the difficulty level being too high. On this page of the guide, you will find an explanation of whether you can choose the difficulty level (e.g. easy, normal, high) and what are other methods to make the game easier.
Difficulty levels in Lords of the Fallen 2023
- Lords of the Fallen is one of those souls games where there is no option to choose the difficulty level. After selecting a new game and creating a hero in the character creator, you will be immediately transferred to the campaign.
- Some hero classes have markings indicating that they are more advanced or more difficult (example in the image). This warning means that a given class, e.g. at the beginning of the game, will be weaker or will require more careful planning of its development.
We have listed the recommended starting classes on a separate page: Best class.
How to lower the challenge level?
- The main way to make the game easier is to use the help of other players and work with them in cooperation for 2 people.
- Once you reach the Vestige, you can select the Multiplayer option. It includes, e.g. Beckon Lampbearer (this will be a random other player), Beckon Friend and Accompany Lampbearer (you move to another player's world).
- NPCs from the game world may help you in some boss fights.
- The Beckon option may appear when entering the boss battle arena. For example, the The Iron Wayfarer can help you defeat the boss Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal (you must first attempt to defeat Pieta solo).
- You have no control over your AI companions and they won't defeat the boss for you. If you don't provide enough help, they will die before the fight ends.
Other ways to lower the challenge level include:
- Character leveling with Vigor - By accumulating XP, you can level up your hero (visit any Vestige). Each new level increases a chosen attribute by 1. For more tips, see How to gather Vigor? and Farming XP pages.
- Upgrading and changing your character's equipment - After you advance enough in the game, you can find the blacksmith Gerlinde and unlock the option to upgrade gear. Alternatively, you can also replace your equipment with other items found as loot or purchased from merchants.
