The following page of the FS 22 guide discusses buying and selling and renting machinery.
Last update: 06 December 2021
On this page of the Farming Simulator 22 game guide, you will learn how to buy, lease and sell vehicles from the store. You will also learn how to have an employee bring the vehicle to your designated location.
Buying
To buy new vehicles, you need to go to the store - simply stand on the shopping cart icon and press the interact key (R by default).
You can also use the shopping menu (P by default). However, you need to pick up the purchased vehicles from the store yourself.
You can also assign this task to an employee - simply open the menu (Esc) and select the second tab with the steering wheel icon. Click on a vehicle, then select a destination from the menu on the right and press the assign worker button (Space by default) for the employee to start the journey. However, don't forget to equip the tractor or other vehicle with additional machinery at purchase, so that you can immediately pick up the additional equipment.
The purchase price is the same whether you buy the vehicle / machine locally or remotely.
Selling
To sell a vehicle, open the shopping panel and select the 3rd tab from the end, with the garage icon. Choose the machine category, where you can view the vehicles you own - from here you can sell them. However, keep in mind that as soon as you buy it, the value of the vehicle decreases, so try to avoid making ill-considered purchases.
The better way to sell vehicles is by using the workshop tag at the store. Place the machine in the zone and use the wrench icon. You will receive 20% more money if you sell your machines this way. The sell value of the vehicle is affected by:
- Working time - a real-time counter independent of the in-game time acceleration setting,
- Time after purchase - even if the item has been unused, it still loses value,
- Damage - every machine wears out over time. In addition, stones in the fields are effective in damaging vehicles.
It's a good idea to avoid making unnecessary purchases. If you want to test the machines, it's best to lease them.
Special offers
Farming Simulator 22 added the Second-hand vehicles tab in stores, making it possible to buy used machines for a much lower price. The number and types of vehicles available change every month. This option makes it possible to save a lot of money if you can track down the vehicle or machine you are looking for.
Leasing
Every machine and vehicle can be leased instead of purchased. You need to pay 5% of its value to lease a machine (i.e. €5,000 for a vehicle worth €100,000). Once you have leased it, you are free to use the vehicle for as long as you want. However, you will be billed for each month, regardless of whether you used the machine or not.
The monthly fee is 1% of the vehicle's value and you will be charged starting from the first month. For example, if you lease a vehicle in the first month for €5,000 and you don't return it by the end of the month, at 0: 00 you will be additionally charged €1,000 for the start of the next day / month of rental.
To see which vehicles you have rented, select the wrench icon from the shopping menu. When selecting a vehicle, you can also return it - there is no extra charge for returning the vehicle. You can also return it in the workshop, but you won't be rewarded for going out of your way.
Not every rental is cost-effective. If you want to lease a harvester to harvest grain from a small field, you may even lose money instead of earning it. It might be a good idea to take up some assignments to get more money by using the leased vehicle to work other fields.
Repair and modifications
Vehicles are regularly damaged and worn out. When a machine reaches a particular damage level, it won't be able to work as fast or efficiently. When you notice this happening, go to the workshop. You will find the vehicle placement zone and the wrench indicator near the store.
In the workshop you can:
- repair the vehicle,
- repaint the vehicle,
- modify accessories and settings (such as wheels or tractor front loaders),
- sell the vehicle.
You can also place your own Workshop on your plot for €45,000. Since repairs aren't required, this isn't a necessary purchase. However, it can be useful when it comes to vehicles with a number of modification options. These include, for example, some trailers that you can turn into manure spreaders or flat trailers for transporting pallets / bales. Once purchased, you can switch the machine's modifications at any time for free.
