What is cultivation?

Cultivation is a basic activity performed after each harvest - Farming Simulator 22: Cultivation - Field work - Farming Simulator 22 Guide

Cultivation is a basic activity performed after each harvest. It's an easier job than plowing and thus it should always be performed when there's no need to plow. Cultivation can often be combined with sowing / planting or even fertilizing at the same time by using multifunctional machines.

How to cultivate a field?

To use the cultivator you must stand in front of an empty field after harvesting and then:

  1. Unfold the cultivator,
  2. Lower the cultivator,
  3. Optionally activate sowing or fertilizing.
This work can be performed by various machines: cultivators, power harrows and disc harrows can all prepare the field for cultivation - Farming Simulator 22: Cultivation - Field work - Farming Simulator 22 Guide

This work can be performed by various machines: cultivators, power harrows and disc harrows can all prepare the field for cultivation. The main differences between them are:

  1. work speed,
  2. price,
  3. working area,
  4. required tractor power,
  5. compatibility with other machines, such as seeders - cultivators are the most compatible, although they don't work as fast as harrows.

If you've already done the plowing you don't need to cultivate - it's not rewarded in any way. In other words: plow or cultivate, with some plants giving additional yield for plowing.

You should cultivate after each harvest, although it's worthwhile to do mulchering first.
