Sugarcane is one of the many plants in Farming Simulator 22 which can be cultivated. On this page, you will learn how to plant sugarcane, how to harvest it and what are the differences between harvesters for cane, where to use the cane, and how to process it into sugar.
Planting sugarcane
Sugarcane is a special type of plant, therefore, it requires a dedicated overview. To plant it, you will need a special seeder, which you will find in the Sugarcane Technology tab.
You need to prepare the field by plowing it to get a larger crop. An important feature of the cane is that it doesn't need to be planted again (only if the periodic plowing option is active - you will have to plant sugarcane again after preparing the field). Of course, after harvesting, you still have to fertilize the field with sugarcane twice to get the full harvest the next time.
Harvesting sugarcane
To harvest sugarcane, you can first use a simple, small, and inexpensive harvester connected to a tractor - Lizard SWT 7. It does not have its own tank, so you will have to drive a tractor with a trailer next to it or attach a trailer to the back.
Special trailers intended for harvesting sugarcane (but also grass, straw...) are available in the Sugarcane Technology tab. They are a kind of auger trailers - but instead of a transfer tube, they work like a dump truck. However, they are lifted when they are pouring its content.
To control this type of trailer, hold the LMB or LB/L1 on the controller, depending on the console, and use the analog stick/mouse. In addition, these trailers can be assembled together.
The main disadvantage of this harvester is that it is difficult to control - the harvester moves along the side of the vehicle, which also makes it difficult to collect sugarcane; moreover, if you change to the cabin view, you will see almost nothing except sugarcane.
A self-propelled harvester is also available. This one, however, has a fairly big drawback - it does not have its own tank, and the trailers that can be attached to it are reduced to only a few small copies. It is best to use a yellow trailer TT Colossus 10.000, although your employees may have problems with turning back, as it slightly rubs against the harvester. For this reason, the best option is to cooperate with the player/employee and drive the semi-trailer yourself next to the combine.
Use and size of harvests
Working with sugarcane is not easy. It is not worth investing in very large fields as neither harvesters nor trailers are adapted for this. Sugarcane can be processed into sugar in the factory (500l of sugar cane -> 250 of sugar).
The yield of sugar cane is close to 100,000l/hectare.
