Below we've described the mulching process in Farming Simulator 22: what is mulching used for, when to do it and does it affect the harvest.
What is mulching?
Mulching removes stubble from the field after the harvest. The machine cuts down and decomposes the plants' remains to make the soil more fertile. It doesn't take long, as the machines can travel at 12 km/h and aren't much of a load for tractors. Some devices, such as TMC Cancela TMS2-300D, can be connected to other machines (eg. cultivator, seeder) to perform several activities at once.
This activity increases the next yield by 5%.
How to mulch?
Smaller mulching devices function both at the vehicle's rear and front: they should be attached at the front though by default, and your workers won't operate them if they're attached at the rear.
Mulching is pretty fast, although it can take a bit longer on bigger fields, especially since the machines' size is limited. You don't have to rush to do it though, so you can go through with the mulching in your spare time before the next plowing / cultivating. You can also fertilize the field before and after mulching, this way after the later sowing you'll only need to worry about weeds as you await the harvest.
