Farming Simulator 22: Plowing FS 22 guide, tips
On this page you will read about plowing in Farming Simulator 22.

The following page explains what plowing is for - the work done with a plow. You will find out when you need to do it, what tools you can use, is periodic plowing required, and which plants require plowing.
What is plowing?
Plowing is the first thing you need to do in a new field. You can do it right after harvesting. This is a process required before planting root crops. As for grains, cultivation is enough. Plowing is performed using a plow, subsoilers or spaders.
To use a plow in an empty field after harvesting, you must:
- Deploy the plow,
- Lower the plow.
When to plow?
Plowing is one of the hardest works in FS22. You need a powerful tractor; however, since plowing is not always required every harvest, you won't have to invest in it right away. To work with a plow, you almost always need weights on the front of the tractor.
- Root crops like corn, sunflower, sugar beet, and sugar cane do not require plowing. However, plowing before planting increases yield by 15%.
- For plowing, you will need a plow, subsoiler or spaders.
- The plow can also be used to destroy plants in the field.
- Plowing prevents/slows down the growth and appearance of weeds. However, only a deep plowing will do that - shallow-working subsoiler will not help here.
- The use of a plow causes the stones to move up the soil.
- The plow is also used for creating new fields when the appropriate function is activated.
After harvesting, and before using the plow, when you have a stubble field, it is worth using a mulcher to utilize them first - this will increase the next crop by 5%.
Default game settings include periodic plowing, i.e. even if you sow grain and cultivate the field after harvesting, you will have to use a plow every few harvests to keep it at a high level. Check the map to see if a field requires plowing (they will be colored red). You can also learn that by standing in front of the field.
Subsoilers
Subsoilers are devices that sink deeper into the ground, but their work is sufficient and equal to using a plow. You can use them instead of a plow to perform periodic plowing much faster. In addition, you can connect a seeder or a fertilizer spreader to some excavator models to do two jobs at the same time.
Many workers do poorly with combinations of vehicles, such as a subsoiler /seeder/planter.
