Farming simulator 22: When to fertilize field? FS 22 guide, tips
On this page of the Farming Simulator 22 guide, we'll answer the question of when to fertilize a field.
Last update: 24 May 2024
The following page of the guide to Farming Simulator 22 explains when to fertilize the fields: how to fertilize them, in what months, after what period and why it isn't possible to fertilize them twice at the same time.
Fertilizing the fields is one of the most important activities in FS22, as it increases the crop. The answer to the question of when to fertilize is: whenever. You can fertilize the field after harvest, after sowing, or when the plants grow (only in the initial stages of growth). The catch is that you have to fertilize twice to get the biggest possible harvest.
You can check the fertilization level in the map preview: the lighter blue indicates a single fertilization, the navy blue indicates a double fertilization. Different machines and different types of fertilizers are available:
- Loose fertilizers - available in the store on pallets, often used by seeders with fertilization function,
- Liquid artificial fertilizers - available in the store, should be used in spraying machines,
- Slurry - liquid fertilizer produced by pigs and cows,
- Manure - solid fertilizer produced by pigs and cows when they have enough straw,
- Digestate - the final product of processing the raw materials supplied to the biogas plant (silage, chaff, beets, natural fertilizers).
To fertilize the field twice, you need to choose one of the 3 methods:
- Fertilize in one month/at one stage of work in two ways (preferably natural and artificial fertilizer) (the most effective method),
- Fertilize after other field work - it will not be possible after every activity, e.g. after soil rolling.
- Fertilize twice with natural fertilizers (option available on vehicles: drainage trucks and manure spreaders).
You can not fertilize the fields at the same work stage with one fertilizer. That is, after plowing, you can not spread the artificial fertilizer twice: you must either sow/plant or perform soil rolling, or use another fertilizer.
