The following page compares the difficulty levels in Farming Simulator 22.
Last update: 19 November 2021
This part of the guide to Farming Simulator 22 focuses on the differences between the difficulty levels you select at the beginning of the game. You will find out which of them is the most profitable and what challenges it offers.
Basic information
Farming Simulator 22 has 3 difficulty levels: New Farmer (easy), Farm Manager (medium) and Start from Scratch (hard). You select them at the beginning of the game. How are they different, what machines and buildings do you get to start with, and how much do you get at the start of each difficulty?
Difficulty levels in FS22 reflect your income. They determine how much money and value in real estate and vehicles you get at the beginning, but they also affect the buying prices. However, it does not change the difficulty of animal husbandry/cultivation, the amount of yields generated, or the intensity of weeds. In addition, you start with a tutorial only at the easiest level of difficulty (New Farmer) and only on the maps Elmcreek or Haut-Beyleron.
- Easy level: basic machinery and buildings, tutorial available. Value of real estate, land, buildings, machinery, and cash: around €1,000,000 - remember that you will not receive a full refund by selling your possessions. Game options: economic difficulty on low, disabled periodic plowing, and low fuel consumption. No loans.
- Medium level: no plots or machinery, only cash - €1,500,000. Game options: economic difficulty on medium, all realism options enabled, average fuel consumption. No loans.
- Hard level: high level of economic difficulties, cash - €500,000. Bank loan: €200,000.
Note that all game options, including the economic difficulty, can be changed during the game in the menu. So the real difference in difficulty level is just whether you want to start without having anything and with how much money.
Compromise - economic difficulty
If you want to start the game from scratch, but you are afraid of an increased level of difficulty, there is no problem. In the game settings, you can change the "economic difficulty" option at any time to set the level of the market according to your preferences - besides the value of the starting farm/amount of cash, this is the only element that is impacted by the difficulty level.
