Last update: 03 June 2024
On this page of the guide to Farming Simulator 22 we'll focus on planting trees. You will learn how to plant new trees with saplings, how long trees grow, where and how you can plant trees, what are the differences between the tree species and how to remove stumps.
Planting saplings
You need a special planter to plant trees. It is available in the store in the Forestry equipment tab. You can buy saplings in the store on the largest pallets - one pallet contains 10 saplings of selected species - after purchasing the palette, you can not change the species. You load it automatically by driving the machine next to the pallet and pressing on the load.
You do not have to plant trees in the field - in part this would be even less advisable, because they do not take up much space and do not require periodic work. Planting a sapling on a fertilized field will not contribute to faster growth or larger tree sizes.
By default, the planter plants trees at a distance of about 5m. However, if you turn off the machine and step back, you can reduce this distance by saving a lot of space when you create your own forest for logging.
Depending on the species, the trees grow between 3-5 years.
Buying whole trees in Build mode
In the Build mode, you can buy selected tree species in different periods of growth. You can use this tool for decorative or experimental purposes.
You will not find here all the tree species available in the game. However, you can, in theory, earn some money: buying an old pine for €1400 you can sell it for €1800 in pieces of 8m at a carpenter or for €2100 as wood chips.
Trees planted in the Build mode will not grow. So you will not be able to create a forest with cheap saplings, hoping that they will grow.
