This page of the guide to Farming Simulator 22 explains how to build pastures and farm houses, as well as what are the differences between them.
Before starting to play with animals, you need to prepare a place for them. Open the building menu (the purchasing menu, it's under the P button by default, select the last option on the list and click the Construction button), then choose the Animals tab. Here you'll see the animal categories: cows, horses, pigs, sheep, hens and bees. Select the tab and a building you can afford.
The buildings can only be placed on your own land, they can't collide with the fields or other objects and must be placed on flat land or small slopes - the additional costs of levelling the ground will be added to your purchase.
Now you need to choose the correct building or pasture. In the lower right corner you'll see the information regarding differences in buildings. Farm houses' main differing features are their price and the necessity of having to supply water by yourself to your pastures.
The building's size related to the number of animals it can store is also important - for example, farm houses can only hold 30 hens, while chicken coops can hold 360, with both buildings' sizes being similar. You should also pay attention to the additional description: for example, the most expensive cowshed comes with a built-in robot which creates mixed forage on its own without needing to use a separate vehicle to do so - it's much more expensive though.
