Pillars Of Eternity 2: Variant 1 - Reaching Ukaizo without help - Walkthrough Pillars Of Eternity 2 Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 20 November 2022
Reaching Ukaizo without help of any of the four main factions is one of the ways of completing The Coming Storm main quest available in Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire. This method shortens the time required to be able to participate in the finale and it allows you to stay independent. However, this solution will cost you a lot of gold.
Upgrading the ship
The description of this variant, available in your journal, won't tell you much. However, the steps that are necessary to complete it aren't complicated. You have to equip your ship with the best hull and sails. These items can be bought in Queen's Berth in Neketaka. Visit Zamar in the north-west corner of the district (M11,2).
Important note - Completing The Shipwright's Plight side quest, given by Zamar, beforehand is recommended. Finishing that quest in the right way can give you a discount. This can be useful, especially since you are about to spend huge amounts of gold.
From Zamar you should buy:
- Dragonwing Sails - they should cost you about 40,000 gold (without a potential discount).
- Blackwood Hull - it should cost you about 64,000 gold (without a potential discount).
After purchasing these items you have to install them in the ship management window. Zamar also sells new ships. Dhow, for 35,000 gold, is a good choice. Zamar's most expensive ship is called Junk and its default price is 60,000 gold.
Buying upgrades isn't enough - you can also think about well-trained crew. New crew members can be recruited during exploration of the world and in certain inns (e.g. The Wild Mare in Queen's Berth). Getting more experienced crew members isn't mandatory but it will lower a potential risk of receiving serious damage to your ship. Be sure to have:
- A highly skilled helmsman.
- A highly skilled "set" of deckhands.
Reaching Ukaizo
The map won't mark Ukaizo on your map if you haven't joined forces with any of the factions. This island can be found in the north-east corner of the world map, east from the Ashen Maw - you can see that in the picture above.
Get closer to Ukaizo island to trigger a scripted interaction from sailing through the storm. The result depends on how well-equipped your ship is and which crew members you have:
- Giving the right speech will motivate your crew.
- A skilled helmsman and deckhands can use their abilities to protect your ship from receiving serious damage.
Reaching Ukaizo starts The City Lost in Time main quest.
