The above map shows The Hanging Sepulchers. This is one of the optional dungeons that can be explored in Pillars of Eternity 2. The tombs are located specifically under The Sacred Stair in city of Neketaka. Visiting this dungeon is a part of one of the side tasks of the game and it is worth promoting the team sufficiently in advance, because the tombs are guarded by stronger monsters.

Important location in The Hanging Sepulchers

1. Default entry location to dungeon. You will start here if you have used The Eel's Coil in The Sacred Stair to open the entrance to the tombs (M14,2). The northern gate is closed - it is opened by a lever north of it (you cannot reach it from the south, so you should set off east).

2. Alternative entry location to dungeon. You will start here if in The Sacred Stair you have used the grapple on the tree (M14,2) and correctly completed the interaction scene from the passage through the catacombs. You can also leave the dungeon, but the requirement to use of grapple gets increased (i.e. it is easier to fail the ability test).

5. Tomb of Lady of Vigils. It's guarded by risen. You can find here Yseyr Eulogy - The Vigil (quest item for Eulogy of the Dead).

6. Forgotten Mausoleum. In front of the entrance to mausoleum a group of skeletons and Risen (beware of mages) is going to attack you.

Inside mausoleum you will find various traps and a secret chest with unique light armor Effigy's Husk and a tomb that contains Yseyr Eulogy - The Gate (quest item for Eulogy of the Dead). Looting the eulogy triggers the arrival of small group of Risen.

7. Entrance to Yseyr's Tomb. To open it you need two eulogies (M31,5 i 6). This will unlock new options after exploring the statues on the left and right side.

8. Yseyr's Tomb. You can fight with Yseyr Berathian (it's a strong opponent that will summon powerful monsters to aid him) or ask him for the possibility of taking the eulogy.

Explore the tomb and obtain Yseyr Eulogy - The Sword (quest item for Eulogy of the Dead).

Quests continued w The Hanging Sepulchers

[Missions] Eulogy of the Dead (M14) - You must find three eulogies in the dungeon (M31,5)(M31,6)(M31,8).

Important NPCs in The Hanging Sepulchers

Yseyr Berathian (M31,8) - You can only meet him once his tomb has been opened. You can defeat this strong opponent (he will summon other monsters for reinforcements) or ask him for possibility of taking the one of his eulogies.

Types of monsters and enemies in The Hanging Sepulchers

Yseyr the Berathian - He is the strongest opponent of this dungeon. If you are going to defeat him, it is best to conduct the initial part of the conversation in a peaceful way and, afterwards, set up your subordinates in the right formation. Yseyr is strong, he has many powerful skills and, above all, the ability to summon other monsters (including the two stronger guards, Lady of Vigils and Lord of Heldengat, whom you've studied while they were still stationary while opening the tomb). Yseyr is immune to disease, poison and intellectual, firmness, condition affliction.

Risen - They are a stronger variety of the undead and appear in several varieties - as a soldier, an archer (armed), a champion, a priest and a magician. Always give priority to dealing with Risen that use magic, as their spells can seriously harm you. The Risen are immune to poisons and resistant to the firmness affliction.

Dargul Marksman

Rotghast Ravager

Shade

Skeleton - Beware of skeleton group that appears during the ambush in the western part of the dungeon.

Other information about The Hanging Sepulchers

You shouldn't hurry to enter this location, because it requires you to encounter many high-level monsters and fighting them is unavoidable. By far the most difficult is the confrontation with Yseyrem. He is strong and will be accompanied by other monsters. Decide to enter the dungeon after the team is experienced enough - level 12 with good equipment and solid rest are a minimum precautions here.

There are a lot of pitfalls and traps in the dungeon. It is not difficult to find them, although some of them are adjacent to monster locations. As a result, members of the team may accidentally come across them. It is best to travel in sneaking mode and disarm all traps in advance or pull the monsters you encounter away from their position.
