This page contains our walkthrough for Serafen's personal quest in Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire. This quest isn't long but you will have to visit a few different locations. Stay vigilant throughout the quest because there are a few moments where you may have to fight. Also, it is possible to have one of the bad endings for this quest - you can fail it or make Serafen turn against the party.
Unlocking the quest
Go with Serafen to Fort Deadlight (M34) - the recommended moment for that is either during or after completing Blow the Man Down quest. After a few steps Serafen should automatically speak with you and tell you about Remaro (this is the moment when the quest gets added to your journal).
Reach the fort's main room (M34,6) and talk with Syri. During this conversation you can find an explanation for Serafen's actions and use abilities (Diplomacy 6 / Intimidate 6 / Philosopher / Insight 9 / Streetwise 7). However, you don't have to use them - you still can get the necessary information to continue the quest. Examine the small room adjacent to the shrine (M34,10) (the picture above). There, you can find a chest with level 4 lock. This also triggers a new conversation with Serafen.
Visit in the Luminous Bathhouse
Go on Neketaka island and head to the Luminous Bathhouse located in Periki's Overlook (M15,8). On your way there the party should be stopped by pirates led by Malnaj. You can openly refuse to share information about Udyne or lie about Remaro's whereabouts (requires Bluff 7 - you will receive 400 gold). You can also give the real information - this cancels the quest and ends it with failure. The only good thing about this choice is that you will receive 1,400 gold.
Continue the quest by not telling Malnaj anything or by lying. Enter the Luminous Bathhouse and find Udyne in the main room with a pool of healing adra. Speak with the woman. You determine that Remaro is on Sayuka island.
Finding Remaro and choosing the ending
Reach Sayuka island. Remaro stands near the stairs in the north (M35,2). Save your progress, this meeting can end in a few different ways:
- You can ask Remaro about his involvement in trafficking slaves - the mas will confirm his participation.
- You can let Remaro go.
- You can ask Serafen how you should act - he also wants to let Remaro go.
- You can force Remaro to get punished for his acts - you need to pass Insight 10 test combined with either Intimidate 5 or Streetwise 7. This is a very "dangerous" variant - it is possible that you can end up fighting with Serafen after having an argument. You will have to kill him. This means that you can lose this party member.
Letting Remaro go rewards you with a unique Fire in the Hole blunderbuss. Also, completing this mission by following Serafen's wish rewards you with a special present from this character - a unique Fair Favor hat (15% chance to convert damage into critical damage and 20% to critical damage dealt with daggers, rapiers, sabres, stilettos and swords).
Epilogue
This quest can have a short epilogue. Malnaj can ambush you if you lied to her or refused to give her information - this happens right after leaving Sayuka island. You will have to kill Malnaj and all her crew members.
