The Applecore and Jarnsmida Pitmines are regions from God of War Ragnarok that you can't fully search during your first visit. From this page of the guide, you'll learn how to return to these locations (Svartalfheim) in later parts of the game i.e. after completing The Quest for Tyr.

Further visits to The Applecore and Jarnsmida Pitmines
The Applecore and Jarnsmida Pitmines are regions found in the western part of Svartalfheim. These regions are first visited in the course of The Quest for Tyr story quest, but you couldn't explore them completely then.
Returning to The Applecore and Pitmines is not easy, as Mystic Gateways i.e. fast travel points, were not unlocked on the first visit. You can unlock them only on a second visit.
If you don't already have the option to unlock unknown gateways, then choose to travel to Aurvangar Wetlands (screenshot above) After your return to Svartalfheim, find the ferry crossing next to the gateway - it will take you to the Sverd Sands region.
If you can already unlock unknown gateways, then choose the Sverd Sands one - we have marked it in the picture. Once it is added to the list of fast travel points, you can use it right away.
Crossing north through the Applecore River
In both cases, head toward the central part of The Applecore as pictured on the map. There are some battles to do in the caves. You can also unlock new pathways if you have Draupnir Spear already (more on it on the page How to unlock the Draupnir Spear?)
The journey back to The Applecore is marked by a mini-boss encounter against Miklimunnr - it's a beast that you didn't have to face when escaping The Applecore with Tyr.
Miklimunnr uses a huge stone block for most attacks. Jump away every time a monster prepares to strike again, especially if it is a red attack.
As always, deplete the enemy's health bar until he is stunned - once that happens, press R3 while standing close to the monster to execute it in an impressive way.
During the trek, you have to go through puzzle locations again. Fortunately you don't have to solve them again. The only exception is a blockade made of yellow crystals - place yourself in the area shown in the screenshot and throw the Leviathan Axe at the red vessel.
Finally, you should reach a place where you receive a message saying that the Applecore Mythic Gateway has been unlocked. This will allow you to return to this region more easily from this point on and there is no need to repeat the trek from Svedr Sands.
Getting from The Applecore to Jarnsmida Pitmines
Near the Mystic Gateway, there is a pathway allowing you to continue north-west.
Ultimately, you will return to the Jarnsmida Pitmines region. Here, too, you can search for new or overlooked secrets and activities, as well as unlock the Mystic Gateway for the mine.
From now on, exploring The Applecore and Jarnsmida Pitmines should be easier, and, above all, less time-consuming - you don't have to repeat the crossing from other areas of the map.
