God of War Ragnarok is the 2018 sequel to the story of Kratos and his son Atreus. The game is very popular in the PS4 and PS5 community. No wonder that PC players anticipated the title so much. At last, those without Sony consoles can experience the fate of the Spartan God of War and his family (if you have any difficulties in game, check out our guide). What is interesting, Sony is not following a trend in their PC release and developers did not implement Denuvo protection. But is it a good thing?

God of War Ragnarok – Is It a Good Decision?

Denuvo is a system implemented in games to prevent them from being cracked as long as possible. Of course, we should understand that developers don’t want their work to be stolen; however, adding Denuvo has been associated with controversy. It is widely believed by players that implementing this protection influences the performance. We can find voices which confirms and disproves this theory. It is definitely not helpful that coincidences like in the case of SW Jedi Survivor happens, where removing Denuvo was combined with a patch improving performance.

So, God of War Ragnarok was released on PC without this protection system. For this reason, players are very happy, as they don’t have to worry about theoretically worse performance. Well… they have other issues to think of, as controllers and camera are not working as they should.

Lack of the protection has one big disadvantage - God of War Ragnarok will be easier to crack. Because of that, if we want studios to continue removing Denuvo, it is worth supporting such decisions and buying the game at the price set by the developers. There is a good chance that when they see that gamers are more likely to purchase their creations, they will not add Denuvo in the future. On the other hand, if they see that the game doesn't sell well, they will be more likely to implement this security system.
