This page of the God of War Ragnarok guide explains how to fast travel by using Mystic Gateways. You will learn how to unlock new gates, when you can use fast travel and whether you can reach all worlds immediately.
Unlocking fast travel
Fast travel in Ragnarok works similarly to God of War 2018 - you have to use Mystic Gateways.
You cannot use fast travel from the very beginning of the game, but it will be unlocked quite early. The heroes will go through the first Mystic Gateway together with Sindri at the end of the main quest Surviving Fimbulwinter.
After meeting Brok at the Sindri's House, you will return with the dwarves to the gate. Sindri will explain to you the slightly changed rules of using Mystic Gateways. This time you won't have to return to Tyr's Temple. You can use any unlocked Mystic Gateway.
To use fast travel, you need:
- choose the destination - initially only Svartalfheim will be available;
- choose a Mystic Gateway from a particular land - if you are reaching the land for the first time, then only 1 Mystic Gateway will be available.
Once the gate is activated, you must reach the area between worlds and go to the white gate.
Finding and using Mystic Gateways
You can find new gates as you travel around the world - they are usually easy to spot. After approaching a Mystic Gateway, you will receive information about its unlocking.
The unlocked gates appear on the map of the area - they have a blue icon.
Unfortunately, you can't use fast travel from the map, i.e. by selecting one of the unlocked Mystic Gateways. You must always reach a Mystic Gateway, interact with it, and then choose a destination (another gateway from the same or another land).
Fast travel restrictions
Kratos and Atreus cannot travel to all lands right away. When using a Mystic Gateway for the first time, almost all worlds will be blocked - the only accessible land will be Svartalfheim.
You need Yggdrasil seeds to explore other lands - you will get them as you progress through the game and the list of potential worlds to visit can grow.
