This page of our guide contains information how long it takes to complete God of War Ragnarok. We've supplied a variety of data here - from separate subsections you will find out what is the duration of the main storyline, how long it takes to complete GoW Ragnarok in 100%, which involves completing all quests and finding all secrets and treasures.
Main storyline
Completing the main storyline in God of War Ragnarok should take you about 25-30 hours. This is assuming that you choose the normal difficulty level and do not rush to complete the game as quickly as possible by skipping optional activities. Skipping optional content is not recommended, because as you go through the game, you encounter stronger and stronger enemies, and underdeveloped heroes may have a tougher time defeating them.
Naturally, higher difficulty levels prolong the game, as you may have to repeat boss encounters multiple times, which in the game are in great numbers.
Puzzles can take additional time - many of them are mandatory and require clever use of weapons and interactive elements. All puzzles are described in detail in our walkthrough
Fortunately, GoW Ragnarok creates autosaves on a regular basis (you can also save the game manually). This means no risk of repeating large chunks of the game if Kratos is killed. You should always be back at the beginning of the last battle.
Secrets, collectibles, completing quests and regions in 100%
God of War Ragnarok has plenty of optional content. Among it:
- clashes with berserks (optional bosses) - their level of difficulty is similar to Valkyrie battles from the previous installment of the series.
- favours - side quests, which can in some cases be long and may involve additional puzzles;
- collecting secrets i.e. attaining 100% of a region - you may be forced to explore each location thoroughly.
Passing the main storyline and completing all side quests may extend the gameplay to 40-50 hours. If you desire to complete God of War Ragnarok in 100%, you may need to devote 60 or more hours. The game has more content than the previous installment.
