This page of our guide explains whether GoW Ragnarok features a fully open, explorable world.
God of War Ragnarok contains a semi-open world, one much bigger than the one in God of War from 2018, divided into 9 realms. The world, however, is not a full-fledged sandbox, like, for example, The Witcher 3.
Exploration
God of War Ragnarok features all nine Nordic realms, including Vanaheim, Svartalfheim and Asgard. Furthermore, some of the lands returning from 2018's God of War have received new areas. Locations in GoW Ragnarokcan be divided into semi-open areas with numerous branching paths and linear areas with not much room to explore.
Revisiting realms
As you progress through GoW Ragnarok's main storyline, you'll eventually unlock fast travel. This lets you revisit other realms, unlock previously inaccessible map fragments, obtain valuable items, unlock trophies and find collectibles.
