Wyrmslife Crystal is a type of rare material related to dragons and their blood. In DD2, it serves as a rare ingredient for the best upgrades and also as a unique currency that can be exchanged to receive very rare items. How to obtain Wyrmslife Crystals?
There are 4 ways to obtain rare Wyrmslife Crystals during the game:
- Wyrmslife Crystals are often a reward for completing certain end-game missions. Among the tasks that are rewarded with Crystals are, among others, A Scholarly Pursuit, The Regentkin's Resolve, Civil Unrest, Wandering Root, The Importance of Aiding Ernesto, and Shepherd of the Pawns.
- Wyrmslife Crystals are also left or shed by dragons and drakes while fighting them. Clashes with these huge reptilians are often story events, but in later stages of the game, you'll also encounter them during standard exploration. Moreover, dragons from time to time can attack larger settlements and cities. Of course, more Crystals are received for killing the dragon, but even if the beast runs away, there is a good chance that it will leave some of this high-value resource behind. So it is worth examining the area of the encounter after the battle concludes.
- There is also a chance that you'll find single Wyrmslife Crystal nodes when exploring the world of the game.
- Finally, some wandering merchants may have Wyrmslife Crystals in their stock.
How to upgrade equipment using Wyrmslife Crystals?
To be able to upgrade items with Wyrmslife Crystals, you need to visit a character known as The Dragonforged. This unique blacksmith resides in a coastal cave north-east from Bakbattahl. Finding this NPC is an optional objective in the Flickering Shadows mission, but you can talk to him earlier.
After talking to the man, you can select the "Enhance Equipment" option, which will take you to the equipment upgrade screen. However, what makes the service offered by The Dragonforged different is that he can apply a fourth upgrade on top of the standard three. This special upgrade improves the item statistics immensely and also lowers its weight by half.
A Wyrmslife upgrade can only be applied on items that were already enhanced three times.
From the list on the left, choose the item you want to upgrade. You can switch between player's and Pawn equipment. At the bottom of the screen, you can look up how many WLC (Wyrmslife Crystals) are required for the given upgrade, while on the right side of the screen, how will the item statistics change after the upgrade.
How to use WLC to purchase rare items?
The Dragonforged also offers one more service related to Wyrmslife Crystals. By selecting the appropriate option during the conversation, you can enter the exchange screen where you can spend owned WLC to obtain other, rare items. Among the possible deals, we point your attention towards:
- 3x Ferrystone (3 WLC) - stones used for teleportation. You can learn more about them in Is There Fast Travel? page of our guide.
- Portcrystal (20 WLC) - portable fast travel destination;
- Dragon's Dogma (110 WLC) - a legendary sword needed for the achievement of the same name;
- Unmaking Arrow (8 WLC) - a powerful single-use arrow that instantly kills anything it hits.
