A Beggar's Tale is the name of one of the quests in Dragon Dogma 2 that can be initiated in Vernworth - the human capital city. During the task, you'll shadow a mysterious beggar and learn his most kept secret. On this page of our guide, we show how to learn the secret as well as explain the consequences following 3 different endings to the mission.
- How to follow beggar Albert?
- Giving the evidence to Albert
- Giving the evidence to Hilda
- Giving the evidence to Celina
How to follow beggar Albert?
The Beggars Tale quest is activated automatically after Benton, a beggar found in the city's main square, talks to you. He will tell you about the strange behavior of Albert, another beggar, who spends his daytime telling stories by the fountain. Benton will ask you to investigate the matter, initiating the said task.
Albert has a unique day/night activity that learning will help you uncover the secret. At the end of the day, when the sun is about to set, Albert will leave his post at the fountain and start heading towards the slums. Follow him until he stops at an inn.
Albert doesn't suspect that he is being followed, so you don't have to sneak or hide excessively. Just make sure you stay a few meters behind him and don't get in his way.
The target will spend the evening in the inn. During that time, he will meet with his wife Cecilia. After a few drinks, he will head to his house in the eastern part of the city. Follow him. When he enters the apartment, wait a few moments. He will leave the house. Interestingly, this time he will be dressed in expensive, richly decorated robes.
Enter his house and steal Beggars Garb - proof of Albert's secret. With the item in your inventory, you can decide how to end the quest.
Giving the evidence to Albert
The next morning, you can return to Albert's house. You will find the flustered man at the door. If you give him the evidence, he will ask you to keep the secret to yourself. In return, you will receive 5,000 gold pieces, and the quest will be marked as complete.
Giving the evidence to Hilda
An alternative option to solve the mission is to give the evidence to Hilda - Albert's lover. The woman resides in a building in the eastern part of the rich district. After giving her Beggars Garb, the woman will be outraged by Albert's double life and will vow to confront him with this news. If you return to Hilda a day later, the satisfied woman will reveal to you that the embarrassed Albert stopped pretending to be a beggar and returned to his old job. In exchange for your help, you will receive some experience and 3 pieces of Onyx.
Giving the evidence to Celina
The last and the most heartbreaking way to solve the mission is to give the evidence to Celina - Albert's wife from the slums. You will find the woman in the tavern where Albert was the night before. The woman, confronted with the lie, will be very saddened. If you visit the house of the false beggar a day later, you'll find guards there who will inform you that the heartbroken Celina killed her husband and then took her life. Your reward will be 3000 gold and Noonbloom flower.
