Unlocking the Warfarer hybrid vocation will force you to search for liquor for a character named Lamond. On this page we will tell you how to get the necessary Newt Liqueur.

Warfarer is a unique vocation in DD2 that incorporates elements found in many other classes. Its unique skillset allows him to wield any weapon and learn a variety of abilities from different schools. However, in order to have this vocation unlocked, you'll need to complete a somewhat tedious The Sooted Sage quest. On this page of our guide, we show how to meet all requirements needed for The Sooted Sage task to be completed successfully, which in turn will unlock the vocation in question.
How to activate The Sooted Sage task?
The person you need to find for the quest is Lamond, who can be found propped against a stone column near the hot springs in Volcanic Island Camp, which is a settlement located in the central part of the southern island. You can embark to find him at any moment, but we recommend combining this excursion with completing the Put a Spring In Thy Step quest, which unlocks Magick Archer vocation and Dwarven Smithing upgrades. When interacted, Lamond will complain to you about lack of good drink. If you already have the Newt Liqueur drink, you can give it to him, for which he will thank you and ask you to bring him another batch of alcohol. To quench Lamond's thirst, you need to bring a total of 3 bottles of the drink.
Where to find Newt Liqueur?
Newt Liqueur is a rather rare item in the world of DD2 and getting as many as 3 bottles can cause some trouble. However, there are several sure-fire ways to get them.
- One bottle of Newt Liqueur can be found on a table inside Windwalker's Home (Gautstafro and Cliodhny's hut). This is a location visited in progress of the Put a Spring in Thy Step quest - this is why we recommend completing both of these quests at the same time to save time.
- Another bottle of this precious drink can be bought from Earland in Bakbattahl. You can find him near a cliff east of oxcart station, in the eastern outskirts of the capital city. After you approach him, he will offer you to buy a bottle of Newt Liqueur. You need to shell out 2,000 G.
- Another 3 of the bottles can be bought in the illegal Higgs's Tavern Stand store. The venue is also found in Bakbattahl, but to get access to it, you'll need to perform a certain action. Go to the place marked on the map and locate the small enclosure and the hay bales located next to it. Pick up one of them and then take it to the pen surrounded by a fence. A nearby man, of Beastren descent, will notice this, and after a few sentences, will invite you in. The moonshiner will offer you as many as 3 bottles of this valuable alcohol. Unfortunately, the price per unit is as much as 5,000 G.
Interestingly enough, you can shop at Higgs's Tavern Stand only if you are a Beastern. The NPCs in Bakbattahl react reluctantly to foreigners. If you are playing as a human, equipping the Beastern Mask will be necessary. You can find more about this item on a dedicated page of our guide.
- Yet another place where you can find Newt Liqueur is the Forbidden Magick Research Lab. The location can be accessed by a door in the northern outskirts of the capital. Liqueur is on the table in one of the smaller rooms, near the entrance.
- The last option to obtain Newt Liqueur is to craft it by yourself. The ingredients are Saurian Tail and Fruit Wine. The first reagent can be looted randomly from dead Saurians (humanoid lizards) while the Wine appears randomly in chests around the world map or is given as a reward by NPCs (especially by Vernworth inhabitants).
Once you got the needed quantity of the drink, go to Lamond again and give him the bottles. The man will thank you for your help and the Warfarer vocation will be unlocked. Additionally, you'll receive Grandmaster's Path scroll. Consuming the scroll will unlock access to Rearmament, one of master abilities.
How to change vocation to Warfarer?
Once you have Warfarer vocation unlocked, go to one of Guild Headquarters to change the class. You can find more information about changing the character class on our guide page How to change vocation.
