In Dragons Dogma 2, similarly to other RPGs, one of the core elements and mainstays of gameplay is discovering, picking up, and collecting countless items. However, in the case of the latest game from Capcom, mindless hoarding may quickly lead to inventory being full and the character becoming overencumbered. On this page we explain the mechanics behind and show ways of increasing the hero's carrying capacity.

What are the factors behind carrying capacity?
Let's start with explaining the factors behind the overall carrying capacity of your Arisen. Carrying capacity, similarly to, for example, Stamina, is one of the attributes describing the hero and is a result of what build you've chosen for your created hero. Another important factor when wanting to increase carrying capacity is the weight of a character. The more weighty your hero is, the more he can carry. So if you plan to have expanded carrying capabilities, a good idea would be to create a bulky hero.

Encumberance level
The current encumbrance level is also reflected by a special indicator. Depending on your current encumbrance level, your hero will be more or less affected by a special status that affects properties such as:
- Stamina consumption and regeneration;
- Movement speed;
- Climbing.
The general rule, however, is that the lighter the inventory, the better your Arisen handles demanding physical actions. That's why it's very important to skillfully manage equipment and distribute items across team members.
How and where to find Golden Trove Beetles?
A direct way of increasing carrying capacity of your hero is finding and eating a bug called Golden Trove Beetle. You'll find them to be common in wilderness, often perching on tree trunks. They additionally emit a delicate golden glow making them easy to spot, especially at nighttime. After picking up the Beetle, you can eat it, which will increase your character's carrying capacity by 0.15 kg.
This bonus may seem small, but after eating a sufficient number of these insects, your carrying capacity will improve noticeably. Your main Pawn can also consume these insects.
Increasing carrying capacity through leveling
Throughout the game, your carrying capacity will naturally increase as you level up. The extent to which your carrying capacity will increase is determined by the protagonist's build and stature. However, it can be safely assumed that a high-level Arisen will be much better at carrying many things at once than a low level one.
How to manage your inventory?
To avoid the consequences of overencumbrance, a crucial element of DD2 will be proper inventory management. The matter only requires small inputs made from time to time - dividing items between team members and removing or selling unneeded junk on a regular basis. If your hero is of small build and cannot carry much, a good idea would be to create or recruit Pawns of large stature that will help carry the heaviest items.
The services of a Logistician Pawn will also be useful. This type of companion will automatically distribute the found items among everyone in the team, and will also craft items based on ingredients he carries in his inventory regularly.
