The world of DD2 is full of more or less important NPCs, whose attitudes towards the playable hero can change. On this page we have described how to approach NPCs and whether romances are included in the game.

Similarly to the first installment of the series, Dragon Dogma 2 utilizes the Affinity system that measures the hero's current standing with different NPCs. The higher the Affinity, the better your relations with the given NPC. However, can such relationship result in an intimate scene or a special bond? How to improve Affinity with NPCs?

1. Each NPC in the game has a hidden attitude indicator towards the main character, which is called Affinity. It symbolizes the current opinion that the character has about you. High Affinity with certain, more important characters may result in useful benefits - for example, a friendly merchant may give you a discount on his wares, while other NPCs may gift you various items.
2. To increase your Affinity with a given character, you need to talk to him or give him gifts. The option to give a gift is located in the bottom right corner of the screen. It is not always available - if a certain independent character does not want to accept a gift at a given moment, come back later. Also, remember to wait a day before giving the next gift - you don't want to waste them because only the first gift given that day will increase the character's Affinity.

1. Different gifts have different effects on Affinity of the given character. In the pause menu, in History tab, you can find a journal containing all NPCs that you've met. You can check here what kinds of gifts the given character prefers.

Are there romances in the game?

1. There are romance plotlines in the game - contrary to appearances, they are not dependent on the character's Affinity and are not very in-depth. So don't count on game-long romances in the style of Baldur's Gate 3 or The Witcher 3. Romances in Dragons Dogma 2 take the form of personal side quests associated with a given character. These quests end with a brief romantic scene, which however does not have any major effects on the plot. Wilhelmina and Ulrika have personal romance quests.
2. After completing several main quests in Vernworth, you will meet Wilhelmina, the owner of the Rose Chateau Borderlie brothel. You'll receive a pass to enter the brothel, where you can use the services of the courtesans for 20,000 G. Purchasing the service results in a very short cutscene and has no gameplay benefits.

Can you romance your own Pawn?

1. Since your main Pawn can be created from scratch and accompanies you throughout the game, you may be wondering whether you can romance this character.
2. The main Pawn does not have a romance quest, meaning that you cannot romance them. From players experience, sometimes your main Pawn may blush while talking to you - which usually means they have reached their maximum Affinity level - but this does not change the gameplay in any way and occurs very occasionally.
