Dragon’s Dogma 2 (DD2) - Missing and Disappearing Pawns Explained
Have you experienced disappearing or missing Pawns in DD2? Check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide to find out what might be causing this problem.
The long-awaited Dragon’s Dogma 2 was launched on March 22, 2024, and has received mixed reviews on Steam. PC players have reported performance issues and other game-breaking bugs, such as lost progress due to deleted auto-saves. Another significant problem affecting both consoles and PC players involves their Pawn mysteriously going missing without explanation. Here are possible reasons for this issue.
Why Pawns are Missing or Disappearing in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There shouldn’t be a case where Pawns simply vanish in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but there are a couple of reasons why they might seem to disappear:
- Pawns could die in a fight without you even noticing. A careless step could send them tumbling off a cliff, or they might find themselves drowning in a river. One player reported that his Pawn cast an AOE spell on a bridge, only to fall to its doom.
- There have been reports of Pawns getting stuck (especially in caves and dungeons) or glitching out of the map in some situations. In that case, you should try to teleport them to your location with the ‘Get over here’ command. However, this only works If they’re not too far away and aren’t currently engaged in combat.
- Sometimes, Pawns might seem to disappear due to connection drops. Restarting the game should bring them back.
If you’ve checked all the above and your Pawn is still missing, report this as a bug to the developers.
When your main Pawn dies, their items are automatically sent to your storage, but this feature can get buggy with Pawns that you’ve hired. It’s best to not give anything of a high value to temporary companions because if they are dismissed or die, those items may disappear.
