Last update: 28 March 2024
After arriving in Vernworth, the capital of the human kingdom, you will meet Sven - a mysterious boy running away from a guard. He asks you for help, and over the next few days you will have several opportunities to meet him in various situations. On this page, we will explain the origin of this character and whether it is worth helping him.
First meeting with Sven
After arriving in Vernworth and having the first conversation with Brant, go out onto the street. You will watch a short cut-scene showing a boy running away from a guard. You can point out the guard to the hiding boy or confuse him to help the boy. If you choose the second option, Sven will thank you for your help and promise that you will meet again someday.
Should I give Sven some money?
The second meeting with Sven will happen sometime later. You'll find him arguing at one of the stalls near the city gates. The young man will recognize you and ask you to lend him 1,000 gold to buy a trinket. If you agree to lend him money, the boy will make a purchase and promise that he will soon repay his debt. This event will activate a quest, during which you will meet with Sven every few days and he will pay off part of the debt.
What does helping Sven do?
The following section contains minor plot spoilers.
During the meetings, the boy will share various interesting facts about himself with you. You will learn, among other things, that Sven is actually a resident of the royal palace, and he sneaks out onto the streets to avoid the tutelage of his strict mother - Queen Vermund.
However, Sven's usefulness does not end with providing you information about the world. During one of the missions involving infiltrating the royal castle, the boy can come to your aid and distract the guards, which will make the task much easier.
During one of the last meetings, Sven will once again thank you for your kindness and will give you 4,000 gold pieces and a set of richly decorated clothes. Therefore, it can be safely assumed that the small price associated with helping Sven pays off in the later stages of the game.
