Avowed is a game with a lot of interesting mechanics. Some players may be overwhelmed by the amount of new information. That's why we have created a list of the most useful tips that will help you get off to the best possible start in the latest production from Obsidian Entertainment.

Watch your constitution

During fast-paced fights, especially when you are surrounded by overwhelming enemy forces, it is easy to lose focus on one key aspect. Namely, your stamina. Once it reaches zero, you will be unable to attack, dodge, or block for a period of time. It is very important to stop attacking for a while when the stamina bar is close to depletion. This will make it regenerate much faster.

Furthermore, pay attention to what armor you wear. As a rule, light armor and lighter weapons use much less of the stamina bar, while heavier ones use more. It is also worth investing in some skills that slow down stamina consumption.

Destroy glowing containers and wooden boxes

In many games, destroying various containers, barrels, or vases can reward you with coins or items. In Avowed, you don't have to wreak destruction everywhere you go. All you need to do is notice that a given container or wooden box contains an item or glows with a specific color. This is an easy way to get extra resources.

Pay attention to the icons

You will often encounter various obstacles, such as barriers, walls, or stations requiring electricity. The icons next to them will tell you in a very simple way what to do with a given object. For example, if you see an electricity icon next to a puddle or power source, use an electric grenade or an attack with that element. This will often open up a new passage, behind which various rewards are hidden.

You can read more about this on our guide page: How to destroy grates?.

Collect as many lockpicks as possible...

They can be found, among others, at merchants (they cost 15 coins) and in various backpacks, chests, and sometimes even as potential loot from defeated enemies. You will often see that a particular chest or door requires a certain number of lockpicks to open. Instead of unnecessarily going back to a trader and then back to this place, always have as many of these items in your inventory as possible.

You can read more about this on the How to use lockpicks? page.

...and grenades

The same goes for all types of grenades. If you are not playing as a wizard, but rather a fighter or rogue, you will have much less access to elemental attacks. Grenades will come to the rescue. There are a lot of them, and each can be useful not only in combat, but also in exploration. Thanks to ice grenades you can create an icy platform on the water and thus reach remote places. The electric ones will restore the power, and the fire ones will deal with the spiderwebs and barriers made of trees.

Kill healing enemies first

In many cases, when you are fighting a large group of enemies, you should first focus your attention on healers or enemies that summon more units. They are usually easy to kill as they have no solid defense, and leaving them alive can be a huge problem.

Pay attention to the skulls

The skulls may appear next to an enemy's name. While those with one shouldn't pose much of a challenge, those with three skulls suggest that fighting them will be quite challenging. We advise you to avoid fighting such opponents. Instead, we recommend first upgrading your weapon to the next tier, for example from blue rarity to purple rarity. Then the skull level will decrease and you will have less trouble killing these enemies.

Look for loot on other floors

If you notice on the compass that, for example, a crafting material should be where you are, but it isn't, there is a high chance that it will be on the lower or higher floor. Pay attention to the verticality of the maps. Often, an object on the compass will also have an up or down arrow, informing you where to look for it.

Use ready-made meals

Consumable items such as ready-made products do not have to only restore essence or health. Some of them increase your statistics. Therefore, if you are expecting an important conversation with an NPC or a boss fight, go to your inventory and see if you can somehow strengthen yourself. Most unique effects don't negate each other, so you can simultaneously increase movement speed, or resistance to certain statuses or elements, reduce damage, or have +1 to a certain stat.
