Avowed: How to collect gold and what to spend it on?
How to get rich quickly in Avowed? On this page of the guide we compile ways to accumulate gold. We also suggest what to spend gold on and what items are not worth selling.
Last update:
Having a large amount of gold in Avowed will allow you to purchase items that will help you in combat, exploration, and weapon upgrades. Our guide includes tips on how to quickly accumulate gold, which items to sell and what are the most important goods from merchants that are worth saving your funds for.
Gold from exploration and quests
- The easiest way to collect gold is to explore your surroundings. Try to look into every container and search the bodies of enemies. The compass can help you explore the location 100% (e.g. it marks fallen enemies who have loot on them). Besides that, make sure that the Loot Shimmer option is on - thanks to it, gold will have a yellow outline and will stand out more.
- Gold is a reward for completing many quests. Don't just focus on the main quests, take on side quests as well, which are marked with exclamation marks on the map.
- Bounties are particularly valuable - these are missions in which you hunt down individual fugitives or entire groups of them. In Paradis you can find the Bounty Board and pick up contracts from there (screenshot above). The approximate locations of the people or monsters you are looking for will appear on your map. After eliminating them and collecting the trophies from their bodies, return to the bounty hunter standing next to the board. On average, completing a contract will bring you several hundred gold pieces.
- You can also receive gold from conversations - both those related to quests and with NPCs you simply encounter in the game world. It might be a reward, for example, for convincing someone that you're right or for a successful attempt at intimidating them. In this case, it is always worth trying special dialogue options that are related to the attributes of the main character.
- Certain pieces of equipment can help you accumulate gold. The unique amulet shown in the screenshot allows you to collect more gold with no additional effort. Look for such items and equip them so that they can actually work.
What to sell?
- An alternative way of getting rich is selling unnecessary or useless items from your inventory. You can visit any merchant; each of them will accept all unwanted items from you and their prices do not vary no matter who you approach. You can read more about this on the What to do with unwanted items? page.
- Gems have no use whatsoever and selling them is always entirely safe. For weapons and armor, compare their stats to the items you are currently equipped with. Also, remember that equipment can be disassembled instead of sold, which will give you valuable components.
- Do not sell crafting materials. Some of them are rare and hard to obtain. Common materials can be converted in a Party Camp to better ones.
What to spend gold on?
- Spend gold primarily on lockpicks and crafting ingredients you currently need. You can never have enough lockpicks because opening locked chests and doors automatically uses them up. Purchasing materials will allow you to upgrade the items in your inventory faster. You can read more about this tool on the How to use lockpicks? page.
- Save your gold for higher quality equipment. This will allow you to boost your hero's attacks or defense more quickly. However, do not buy all your equipment from merchants, because many of these items can be found in the game world as loot.
- Buy quest items and treasure maps. Quest-related items will come in handy sooner or later. Treasure maps will lead you to rare stashes. You can cheat a little here: purchase a map, take a screenshot of the location related to it and load a previous save. Having the map in your inventory is not required to locate the treasure.
- You can also use your money to bribe your interlocutors. Bribes can be big or small. By spending a few pieces of gold you can, for example, learn about interesting events. A large bribe may allow you to avoid combat or gain knowledge that will help you complete a quest. Fortunately, the game allows you to complete tasks in various ways and if you have little gold, you can choose other variants.
