Avowed: How long do consumables and stat bonuses last?

Are stat bonuses from consumables permanent? On this guide page we explain how these items work and how to check the duration of an effect after using a consumable item. This will allow you to better prepare for fights and conversations with NPCs.

How do consumables and their effects work?

1. As you play, you can collect or purchase consumable items that provide bonuses to attributes and other stats. For example, Fine Aedyran Mead, shown in the screenshot, can increase Perception by 2 points and extend the Essence bar by 10%.
2. Stat bonuses from consumables are not permanent. You will always receive them only for a limited time. Unfortunately, the devs did not provide a way to preview the duration of a potion, food, or alcohol's effects before consuming them.

How do I check how long a stat bonus will last?

1. The bonus duration from most consumable items is 300 seconds. There are exceptions to this rule though. For example grog, which is used, among other things, to get rid of poison or bleeding and to strengthen immunity lasts for 60 seconds once activated.
2. Using consumables adds counters at the bottom of the screen, as shown in the screenshot above. This will allow you to determine the remaining time of the effect.
3. We recommend using consumables before a fight or an important meeting. This will allow you to strengthen your hero for the duration of the battle or increase your stats for the duration of a conversation and gain access to special dialogue options. It's also worth having a stock of the most frequently used items; you can buy them from merchants or craft them in a Party Camp using the cooking mechanic.
