Avowed is an RPG set in the world of Pillars of Eternity. This title takes us to a continent known as The Living Lands, where our character's task is to investigate a mysterious plague. However, this quest can be tough, not only because of the difficulty of its completion, but due to the fact that the game has a problem with crashes (and keybindings), mainly during the compilation of shaders. You can learn more about it from this article. For more useful information, visit our guide. We have interactive maps of key regions, too. Keep in mind that both are work in progress, so visit them often to see novelties.

Avowed – Shader compilation explained

Avowed performs shader compilation every time you run it. This is done to optimize shaders, to ensure high performance and reduce stuttering during gameplay. Once completed, this process results in higher quality graphics and improved overall gaming experience.

Sounds like something worth waiting for, right? Yes, the catch is that depending on your hardware, the operation can take some time, which can be a pain in the long term. What's more, the process often fails. While optimizing shaders, the loading bar can freeze, and after a while a Low Level Fatal Error crash massage may pop up.

Is it possible to do something about it? At this point, the only way out is to turn Avowed on again. There is a good chance that the second time it starts, and you will be able to explore The Living Lands. However, if you still get a similar error, keep trying until the game finally loads correctly. Perhaps a patch from Obsidian Entertainment will fix this annoying bug.
