In Avowed, the default camera option is FPP (first-person view), but that's not the only available setting. On this page of the guide, you will learn how to set the TPP camera as well as what are the potential disadvantages and limitations of the third-person camera.

How to switch to TPP camera?

  1. By default, Avowed starts with the FPP camera enabled, i.e. with a first-person perspective. This is the developers' recommended way to complete the game. The TPP view was added at the request of some players and is, in our opinion, less polished.
  2. You can switch to the TPP mode in the game options. Go to the Game or Accessibility tab. Locate the Third-Person View option and enable it.
  3. The game also allows you to freely switch between TPP and FPP cameras. At any point during gameplay, press the right analog stick (R3) on a controller or U on a keyboard.

Advantages and disadvantages of the TPP view

  1. In our opinion, the most important advantage of the TPP mode is that it allows for a more precise perception of your character's surroundings. You can more easily spot enemy attacks from other directions, plan long jumps more easily, and move away from area attacks more efficiently.
  2. The TPP view in Avowed unfortunately makes it difficult to spot and pick up minor loot. You need to aim the crosshair in the center of the screen exactly at the object you want to pick up (or interact with). We recommend leaving the Loot Shimmer setting turned on to make it easier for you to spot items in your surroundings. In locations with a lot of loot, it is also worth returning to the FPP view for a while.
  3. Some of the main character animations are poorly done, such as the swimming animation or the long jumps. This will not affect your gameplay, but may somewhat reduce your immersion.
