Avowed: Can you pet animals and are there mounts?

Is there an option to pet animals in Avowed and are there mounts? Wild animals in the game world

1. Wild animals are present in Avowed, you can't pet them. Smaller species that resemble lemurs or lizards will start to run away once they see you. You can catch up with them and kill them, but there is no reward for doing so.
2. Bears and other large animals may become aggressive and attack your party. You can then either join the fight or begin to flee. Same goes for mutant animals, which are always aggressive. Killing hostile animals is advisable because they can drop claws or other trophies; you can then sell them or use them for crafting/upgrading items.

Are there animal companions or mounts?

1. All companions you recruit during the game are human. You won't find any animals among them. They cannot appear in a Party Camp as one of the "attractions" either.
2. Mounts are not available in Avowed. You cannot find or tame mounts. Your character must traverse the game world on their own, with numerous fast travel points making this easier.

Domesticated species in cities and villages

1. Domesticated animals such as chickens and cattle appear in cities and villages. You can find them e.g. in farmsteads.
2. There is no possibility to interact with the farm animals and you cannot pet them. What's more, they are untouchable and the game will not allow you to kill them. This is an artificial restriction, probably to avoid conflicts with the owners of killed animals.
