Avowed: How to use lockpicks?
RPG games very often allow you to open other people's chests to get interesting items. In turn, they are often locked, fortunately, a picklock helps. What does using them look like in Avowed? That's what you'll find out in our tutorial.

Many contemporary games include mini-games where you have to use a lockpick to open locked chests that may contain something valuable. How to use lockpicks in Avowed?
Avowed takes a different approach to opening locks on chests or doors than other games. Opening them usually requires completing a mini-game. Here, however, you only need to have the right number of tools to open the door or a chest.
As you approach them, you will notice that some of them require multiple lockpicks to open. All you need to do is hold down the appropriate key, which will use up a certain number of lockpicks and the locked object will open.
We strongly recommend opening chests that require a larger number of lockpicks and those that shimmer with purple or gold light, as the rewards inside them will most likely be much better. In terms of doors, first check if there's some other way in, e.g. you might be able to tear down a wall, enter through a hole in the roof, or perhaps even find a key to the building.
Where to get lockpicks?
You can obtain lockpicks in two ways. The traditional method is to buy them from traders. They usually don't cost much, just 15 coins each. Therefore, it will be an excellent purchase that will pay off in the future.
You can also obtain them from the bodies of fallen enemies and in some chests. However, it is never certain what you will actually get when looting, which is why it is always better to buy these items rather than hope that they will drop someday.
