On this page of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla guide, you will find out who betrayed Soma in her storyline. This is one of the more important choices made during the campaign. Accusing the wrong person of being the traitor can have negative consequences later in the game.
The following walkthrough contains spoilers about the events and choices from the main campaign, namely the main quests in the Grantebridgescire region.
The topic of the traitor starts when you do the saga (series of quests) in the Grantebridgescire region. Eivor meets with Soma the leader and, among other things, helps her regain control over the Grantebridge settlement.
Soma's trusted circle of advisors/captains includes Birna, Galinn and Lif. During this storyline, you will learn from Soma that one of these people is a traitor – has cooperated with Wigimund and made it easier for him to conquer Grantebridge using deception.
Eivor is tasked with investigating the traitor's identity – you can investigate the tunnel underneath the main settlement building, question Grantebridge people, and look for a boat. Eivor can also meet with each of Soma's captains and complete related minor tasks.
We have discussed this investigation in detail in our walkthrough, specifically in the section about the main quests in the Grantebridgescire region.
If you have problems with finding the boat for a full investigation, see the Yellow longship - where to find it? page.
Lastly, you will have to return to Soma. You can present to her all the evidence you found and information about her advisors, and make a decision.
The traitor is Galinn. The game may confuse you with the fact that Lin had yellow paint, but it was stolen and used to help enemies infiltrate the settlement. Galinn will be executed immediately.
Choosing the right traitor has two advantages:
- Soma's attitude towards Eivor remains positive.
- Birna will be automatically recruited and become one of the Jomsvikings (you will be able to place her on board the Drakkar and travel with her around the world).
If you identify the wrong traitor, the two remaining captains will eventually die – one immediately (after being executed by Soma) and the other later by Galinn. You will also have an additional boss fight with Galinn. The wrong choice will of course worsen your relation with Soma significantly.
