In Assassin's Creed Valhalla you will find many closed chets and doors - especially when raiding abbeys. The ways of opening and destroying them are different, depending on the type of object you will find. On this page of our guide you will learn how to open closed chests and how to get through closed doors.
- Destroying doors
- Breaking down doors and destroying locks in chests
- Finding the key
- Finding another entrance
Destroying doors
When you try to open some doors you will see an information that they are locked. However, it is worth trying to attack the door first - especially if it looks weak (e.g. it's made of ordinary boards). In many cases such doors will be destroyed and you will be able to enter the building or another room.
The destruction method also works well in case of blocked passages. All you need to do is to find a red oil jug nearby and throw it at the barricade. You can also use the Incendiary Powder Trap skill - you will get it in Walden, in the Grantebridgescire region.
Breaking down doors and destroying locks in chests
Another type of door is those that can be broken down - you will encounter then during raids. Usually you will not find another entrance - the way to open such a door is to break it down with the help of another Viking. When you approach the door, select the option displayed on the screen. After a while a Viking from your crew will arrive and you will unlock the passage together.
A similar situation applies to large chests found in abbeys - they are opened in the same way as the door, that is with the help of a crew member. After a while, the loot will go to your inventory.
Finding the key
When you try to open some doors and chests, you will see that a key is required to unlock them. This is the only way to open this type of door or chest - there is no other entrance or the option to break them down/destroy the lock.
In most cases it is easy to find the key because it is usually located nearby. Search the area using Odin's Sight and look for the key icon. For example, the key will be hidden somewhere, or you will find it next to the body of a defeated enemy.
Finding another entrance
In Assassin's Creed Valhalla you will also have to deal with doors barricaded from the other side - there is no way to destroy or break them down, or find the key. The only way to deal with this type of door is to find another entrance.
The additional entrance takes different forms - it can be a window, which can be destroyed or a hole in the roof or wall. You must thoroughly search the outside of the building. It is best to check all sides of the building and its roof.
