Follow Ivarr
Get on your horse and follow Ivarr. During the ride, the man will say that he guessed that Rhodri would attack the weakest one among you. He will also tell you the story behind the scar he received from Rhodri.
Once you're there and you've set up the camp, go talk to Ivarr to start the assault on the castle.
Breach the main gate
The first stage of the assault will be to breach the main gate. Help bring the oil cart under the obstacle.
Once the cart is in place, you have to set it on fire detonate the charges - approach the charges and use the action button.
Breach the inner gate
Place a jug of oil under the inner gate and blow it up or throw it directly into the obstacle to make a passage for your troops. The jugs can be found next to the building on the left - one will be enough.
If you want, you can climb the wall and jump on the other side and then manually destroy the gate - the effect will be the same.
Shoot at the chain's links to lower the Drawbridge
In front of the drawbridge, you will come across a squad of guards with an elite commander. Deal with your opponents so that they do not interfere with the rest of the task.
The links are located in the upper part of the bridge, on both corners. You have to shoot diagonally to destroy the hooks.
Enter the castle keep
Before entering the fortress you will encounter more elite guards of King Rhodri, but they should not cause too many problems, especially since you can count on the help of Ivarr and other warriors.
Once you enter, the fortress will be captured and you will watch the cut-scene from Ivarr's fight with Rhodri. Then you can try to influence Ivarr's decision.
- Let him go;
- He is dying;
- Finish him quickly:
It does not matter which option you choose, because Ivarr will refuse anyway and say that the king will die on his terms and like he planned.
Follow Ivarr with Rhodri
Take Rhodri on yor back, throw him on the horse, and follow Ivarr to the place where the execution is to take place.
Once you're there, put the man on the ground and watch another cut-scene, in which Ivarr will show Eivor the birth of the Blood Eagle. After King Rhodri dies, Ivarr will point out that the saga they wrote together with Eivor must have some kind of ending, and he will admit to having murdered Ceolbert himself, which will lead to a fight.
Kill Ivarr
Ivarr is an extremely fast and agile opponent who uses two one-handed axes in combat. Because of this, he can perform various combo attacks, such as a simple attack with one weapon followed by an unblockable one with the other, it is difficult to predict his attack pattern. Ivarr also likes to make quick slides, rolls or dodges and launch surprise attacks.
As always, the ideal start of a boss fight is to hit his sensitive points. In thecase of Ivarr, these are the right knee and left wrist. It is hard to hit the wrist because the shots may bounce off elements of the enemy's armor, but a shot should finally reach the target so it is worth trying.
When your opponent is stunned, you can launch an attack that will remove about 1/4 of his health bar.
Ivarr's basic attacks are indicated by a yellow flash. You can dodge, block or parry them. Attacks indicated by a red rune flash must be absolutely dodged as they cannot be blocked. When you manage to avoid a strong attack, Ivarr will lose balance for a moment and this is the perfect time to launch a counterattack.
If you keep your opponent at a distance he may start throwing axes - block or dodge them.
Ivarr is also a great wrestler, so as soon as he sheaths his weapons, starts preparing for a jump, and a red rune flashes around him, it's a sign that he'll try to grab his opponent by the legs and throw them off a cliff - you can defend yourself against it by quickly pressing the button responsible for block (L1/LB). Falling from such height will cost Eivor about 1/3 of health bar, and the fight will then move to the lower level of the hill.
At some point Ivarr will want to distract you and try to lure Eivor into a conversation. This is a trick to create an opening for a surprize attack, so be prepared to dodge.
Don't let yourself get caught, dodge his attacks and launch quick counters, and you should be able to deal with Ivarr efficiently.
In the arena you will find a lot of mushrooms that can replenish your lost health or adrenaline.
After winning the fight you can decide whether Ivarr will go to his desired Valhalla.
- Send Ivarr to Valhalla: you put the axe on Ivarr's chest even though you say he does not deserve it. Ivarr says he can already hear the wings of Valkyries and then dies;
- Deny Ivarr Valhalla: you tell Ivarr to go to Helheim, and he dies after a while.
Speak to Deorlaf
Go to the feast hall in Quatford to talk to the bishop about what happened during the assault. Ubba will be there to ask if his brother died a worthy death. You can answer this question in the following ways.
- Ivarr died well: you tell Ubba that his brother died like a warrior in full glory. Ubba will find that without Ivarr there will finally be peace and that he will meet his brother in Valhalla;
- Ivarr died badly: you say he died defending his lies and it was not a good death. Ubba will say that he knew his brother well and knows how rough he was. He will swallow this difficult news and state that he will meet his brother in Valhalla;
- He wanted death: you tell Ubba that Ivarr wanted a glorious death in battle and you gave it to him. Ubba will thank you for this and say that he will meet his brother in Valhalla again.
When Ubba finds out that you refused his brother Valhalla and then lied that you did not, he will be very unhappy. Later, he will appear in Ravensthorpe, which will end in a fist fight between him and Eivor. After you defeat him, Ubba will ask if Eivor will also refuse him Valhalla. Eivor's answer will satisfy Ubba and say that the next time you meet you will be friends again.
After the cut-scene from Ivarr's funeral, the mission will end and you will receive 6800 XP as a reward.
